Blaston, Leicestershire: Mobile DPF Cleaning
Sorting the DPF is done at the car, not at a workshop. Your motor isn't taken off and the filter doesn't leave it. An engineer turns up at your address over in Blaston, treats the diesel particulate filter on the motor and runs a DPF regeneration.
You'll be given a price by phone before anyone departs, the clean beginning from £299, and the visit lasting typically around 2 hours.
Written for the state most owners are in: the light already on, the car short for power, and the visit still to book.
The DPF light is on. What then?
It could not be the unit in the end. That is the main thing. Cleaning is not where a visit begins. A check is — a number of faults show up as the same light.
The driving you manage in the meantime tells. That is the next thing.
- Vehicle yet driving as normal on an amber light — have a go at a long constant run first. It costs nothing at all and regularly clears the filter without a visit.
- Once the car is in limp mode, a long run will not touch it. The window has closed.
- Diesel smell in the interior, or black smoke under hard acceleration — stop planning long drives and get it looked at.
The motor has been showing you already
Symptoms have generally been building for a while before the light even shows. Belated news, in other words:
- less power, particularly climbing uphill
- an engine whose revs will not climb as they should
- consumption that is worse than before
- the stop/start silently packing in
- diesel in the cabin, or smoke on the way up through the gears
That is not conclusive alone. Next to the light, it is a fair assumption the filter is blocked.
The cause diesel particulate filters choke round Blaston
For a DPF, the least kind motoring is the type you find across a rural hamlet such as Blaston. Think about a typical week: Hallaton Church of England Primary School and home, Hallaton Road at a halt before half nine, a quick trip to Co-op Food, a dash to Market Harborough. None of it there runs long enough or gets hot enough to see through a regeneration. What should burn off remains.
Where you sit does not help either. The M1 is under 25 miles from Blaston and Leicester is under 15 miles away, so unless something carries you out that way often, weeks pass without the long unbroken run that could clear the filter alone.
Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration gives out
Limp mode is the car looking after itself. With pulling power held down and the revs held, the regeneration the filter needs cannot happen at all. That tells, because starting one is precisely what a motorway run does.
Sensible advice, that motorway run — up until the point it is not. Beyond that point — limp mode — more driving will not manage it, and the filter needs a clean.
DPF cleaning at the motor round Blaston
On your drive, in a work car park, anywhere the car can wait for a while: the job is done with the filter yet fitted on, which is the detail most drivers do not expect.
A scan happens first — running data off the ECU, soot load by proportion and by weight, and a look over of the sensor readings, glow plugs and connected hardware, so other faults are ruled out before anything is cleaned.
Then the cleaning. A cleaning fluid is injected through the entry point on that motor and spreads inside the filter, lifting the soot and ash a regeneration alone will never shift. Heavily loaded filters sometimes need a second pass.
What the clean has lifted is then driven off by a regeneration. If you are there, that is done as a monitored drive out of Blaston; if not, on the spot where the car sits, with the real-time data checked afterwards.
A second scan verifies the change, resets the warning light and lists anything still outstanding. Both read-outs are emailed over, so you have the before and after figures on record.
Where treatment is not the answer
Only one fault is cured by treatment: the filter choked with ash and soot. It does little for:
- pressure sensors showing a block that is not there
- EGR valves that stick open
- AdBlue system faults
- injectors or glow plugs that block a regeneration starting whatsoever
- oil passing through the filter from a faulty turbo
That is what the first check is for. You are let know before the work starts, not after you have handed over, where it turns out to be one of those.
DPF renewal is what people look up, but no part is exchanged: the filter you already own is treated where it sits and returned to use. Nor is having it hollowed out a remedy, since the MOT then fails and driving becomes illegal. Two more things worth bearing in mind.
The price of DPF cleaning across Blaston
A call-out charge holds whatever the outcome, and takes in the visit, the booking fee, the check and the advice passed on. The clean itself begins from £299.
No single flat rate would be honest, so the price is fixed on the phone once we know the vehicle and what the filter is apt to need. Where you are matters as much as what you run: Blaston itself, Medbourne close by, or further out in the LE postcode area.
You are not billed for treatment that the diagnostic says will not work. You even so pay that charge: someone turned up, carried out the scan and gave you the advice.
The job comes with a 30-day warranty taking in aftercare, including an engineer heading back out to Blaston if the light returns inside that time.

The vehicles we clean and the patch we reach around Blaston
The filter is cleaned where it sits on all of them: cars and estates, vans and light commercials, heavy goods vehicles, plant machinery, agricultural vehicles. Nothing is carried anywhere.
Our engineers are along Hallaton Road most weeks, so Blaston is hardly ever a journey of its own, and the same run covers Medbourne, Slawston and the places out past Hallaton. Coverage reaches UK-wide, so even further out through Leicestershire is even so worth a ring, and what decides between today and tomorrow is the schedule rather than the distance.

Things Blaston drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Is a long drive enough alone?
- If you catch it in time, and the car is not in limp mode, sometimes. That requires motorway speed for a sustained run, rather than a quick trip to Co-op Food.
- The visit takes how long?
- It is typically around 2 hours. A heavily loaded filter can take a second clean, which lengthens that.
- Around Blaston, what does it run to?
- It opens from £299, plus the call-out charge taking in the visit, the scan and the advice. Both the vehicle and where you are change it, which is why settling it is done by phone.
- Have I got to be present?
- Nobody expects you to stand with it — the vehicle simply wants a spot to wait for a couple of hours. Come along if you prefer, and the regeneration becomes a supervised drive.
- Can someone travel to Blaston soon?
- That depends on the schedule, but it is often same-day or next-day. Ring 0303 330 1830 and we will let you what is free across the LE area.
- The filter — does it come off the vehicle?
- Not on the call-out service — it is done where it is. Neither job — a filter off, a filter back on — is not something we do.
- What if the light comes back?
- An engineer travels back out to Blaston — the 30-day warranty takes in aftercare.
