Mobile DPF Cleaning serving Blackpark, Highland
With mobile DPF cleaning, we drive out to the vehicle. A technician turns up at your address in Blackpark, cleans the diesel particulate filter while it is still on the vehicle, carries out a DPF regeneration, and you keep the filter you came with.
You'll know a figure by phone before anyone departs, the clean opening from £299, and the visit running typically around 2 hours.
The light is already on and the motor is down on power — that is how we generally find people, and what this page deals with.
DPF light on? What happens next
Not the unit, necessarily. Main thing to get straight. Plenty of faults put the very same light on the same panel, which is why a visit opens with a diagnostic rather than with a clean.
It counts what you get with the vehicle between now and the appointment.
- Worth a try before you book anything: amber light, vehicle driving as normal, just one constant run, no charge.
- Once the car is in limp mode, a long run will not shift it. The window has shut.
- Diesel smell in the car, or black smoke under the throttle — stop planning long drives and get it seen to.
Before the light, what the car was warning you
By the time the light arrives, things have generally been slipping for weeks. It is belated news:
- going uphill, the power falls off
- revs that will not pull the way they always did
- the fuel consumption is poorer
- a stop/start that has silently packed in
- the car stinking of diesel, or smoke when you pull away
On its own, none of that is conclusive. With the light alongside them, the filter is a fair assumption.
Why diesel particulate filters block around Blackpark
For a DPF, the worst use is the sort you find in a coastal area such as Blackpark. The school run to the local primary school, Leachkin Brae at a crawl at the morning rush, five minutes to The Food Warehouse, the dash to Inverness — none of it lasts long enough or runs hot enough for the filter to finish a regeneration. What should burn away stays behind.
The map does not oblige either. The M90 is over 50 miles from Blackpark and Inverness is under 3 miles away, so unless something takes you out that way regularly, whole weeks slip past without the sustained run that would empty the filter alone.
The moment a DPF regeneration can no longer run
It is self-defence: that is all limp mode means. A proper drive works by triggering a regeneration, and that is precisely what limp mode blocks: power limited, revs held down, no regeneration available.
So the standard advice to get it up the motorway is sound advice, until the day it is not. The far side of that stage — limp mode — driving will not be enough, and the filter needs a clean.
On-site DPF cleaning where the motor stands across Blackpark
Most drivers do not anticipate this part: the filter remains. The job takes place with the DPF yet fixed to the motor — on your driveway, in a work car park, wherever the car can wait for a few hours.
A check goes first — running data off the ECU, soot load by percent and by mass, and a review of the sensor feeds, glow plugs and related hardware, so other faults are ruled out before any of it is started.
Then the clean. A cleaning fluid is fed in through the access point on that motor and opens out inside the filter, loosening the soot and ash a regeneration alone will never budge. Sometimes a filter is blocked enough to take doing twice.
What the clean has loosened is then cleared by a regeneration. Either it is done as a monitored drive out of Blackpark, with you along, or it runs where the vehicle waits and the live data is verified afterwards.
Both reports are sent by email, so the figures from either end are recorded. The second scan is what confirms the change, puts out the light and logs whatever is still open.
When a DPF clean is not the answer
A filter blocked with soot and ash is the one thing treatment cures. It will not help:
- a pressure sensor showing a block that is not there
- an EGR valve held open
- an AdBlue system problem
- injectors or glow plugs that prevent a regeneration completing in the first place
- turbo problems, with oil entering the filter
Which is why the check happens first. You are warned before all work begins, not after you have settled up, should it turns out to be one of those.
Two things more worth knowing. Having the filter cut out is not a fix — a vehicle without a serviceable DPF fails its MOT and driving it is against the law. And cleaning is sometimes searched for as DPF renewal: nothing is exchanged, your own filter is treated in place and returned into use.
Figures for DPF cleaning in Blackpark
The cleaning opens from £299. A call-out charge covers every visit, and covers the call-out itself, the booking, the check and the advice that comes with it.
No single flat rate would be straight, so the number is agreed on the phone once we are told the vehicle and what the filter is going to need. Where you are matters as much as what you drive: Blackpark itself, Leachkin next door, or further out within the IV postcode area.
Where the check says cleaning will not do it, you are not charged for treatment. You still pay that charge: someone came out, did the check and passed on you the advice.
The job comes with a 30-day warranty covering aftercare, including an engineer heading back out to Blackpark if the light returns inside that period.
Great company fast efficient and all members of staff I spoke too including the engineer were outstanding really appreciate it and couldn't recommend enough.
Big thank you to the mechanic who came out to clean my DPF. He was extremely knowledgeable, incredibly helpful, and provided an amazing customer service experience from start to finish. Highly recommend!

Vehicles we clean, and where we travel round Blackpark
The filter is cleaned where it sits on all of them: private cars, vans of any size and light commercials, heavy goods vehicles, plant and construction machinery, farm vehicles. Nothing is taken anywhere.
The same trip that keeps engineers on Leachkin Brae most weeks picks up Blackpark, Leachkin, Clachnaharry and the villages beyond North Kessock. Coverage reaches UK-wide, so further out around Highland is even so worth a ring, and what settles between today and tomorrow is the schedule rather than the distance.

Frequent questions on DPF cleaning around Blackpark
- Does a long run sort it?
- If you get it early, and the vehicle is not in limp mode, sometimes. A long run at motorway speed is what it wants — not fifteen minutes or so to The Food Warehouse and back.
- How long does the visit take?
- Expect typically around 2 hours — severely clogged filters sometimes require a second pass, which extends it.
- How much does it come to around Blackpark?
- It starts from £299, plus the call-out charge covering the visit, the check and the advice. Quoting is done by phone, since what you own and where you are both move the figure.
- Is it needed for me to be there?
- No. The car requires a spot to stand for a couple of hours; you do not need to stand with it. If you would rather come along, the regeneration can be run as a supervised drive instead.
- When can someone get to Blackpark?
- Depending on the calendar, often same-day or next-day is usual. Phone 0303 330 1830 and we will let you what is free across the IV area.
- The filter — does it come off the vehicle?
- It is treated where it sits, on the call-out service. We never get filters off or put them back on, whichever way.
- And if the light returns?
- The 30-day warranty covers aftercare, including an engineer coming back to Blackpark.
