Mobile DPF Cleaning across Black Patch, West Midlands
The vehicle sits in place — mobile DPF cleaning comes to it. A fitter turns up at your place in Black Patch, cleans the diesel particulate filter while it is still on the motor, carries out a DPF regeneration, and you end up with the filter you started with.
Nobody sets off until the number is settled on the phone. The visit takes typically around 2 hours and the clean begins from £299.
Most people find us with the light on already, and the motor low on power. That is the position this page is meant for.
What to try when the DPF light comes on
Not the filter, automatically. First thing to say. A number of faults put the very same light on the identical panel, which is why a visit starts with a diagnostic rather than with treatment.
Second thing: how you drive it between now and then makes a difference.
- Amber light, motor still driving as normal — a long even run can still shift it alone. Costs nothing at all, and worth trying before you call anything.
- Motor already dropped into limp mode — that window has gone. A drive will not reach it now.
- A diesel smell in there, or black smoke under hard acceleration, is the stage to stop arranging long drives and call.
What the car has been telling you
The light is belated news. By the time it appears, the symptoms have generally been mounting for some time:
- less power, particularly climbing uphill
- the revs no longer rise the way they used to
- fuel economy going worse
- the stop/start silently giving up
- a diesel smell in the car, or smoke under hard acceleration
Any one of those, taken singly, is not proof. It is a fair assumption the filter is full once the light is showing too.
Why diesel particulate filters block round Black Patch
The day-to-day driving that belongs to a residential suburb like Black Patch is the worst kind for a DPF. A regeneration wants time and heat, and sees none: not on the school run to Oasis Academy Foundry, not on Foundry Lane at half eight, not on a few minutes to Lidl, and not on the hop to The Hawthorns. Instead of burning off, the unburnt soot builds up.
Save when you have a routine cause to get out to the M5, under 3 miles from Black Patch, or over to Birmingham under 3 miles away, whole weeks pass without a sustained run. Geography is against you.
The moment a DPF regeneration can no longer run
It is self-protection: that is all limp mode is. The whole problem is that a long drive works by setting off a regeneration, and under limp mode the revs will not climb and power is limited.
So the common advice to get it up the motorway is sensible advice, right until it is not. In limp mode you are past that line: treatment is what will work, not more road work.
Where the car stands is where the DPF is cleaned across Black Patch
The filter does not leave it. That is the bit most owners do not see coming: the job is done with the DPF even now fixed to the vehicle, on your driveway, in a work car park, wherever the vehicle can sit for a while.
First a scan. Real-time ECU data, the soot load as a percent and as a figure, the sensor feeds, the glow plugs, the connected parts — all of it logged before any of it is touched.
Then the cleaning. A cleaning fluid is fed in through the entry point on that car and opens out inside the filter, lifting the soot and ash a regeneration by itself will never budge. A second pass is sometimes required on heavily blocked filters.
A regeneration comes next, burning off what the clean has freed. Ride along with the motor and it is done as a monitored drive out of Black Patch. Leave it and the regeneration runs in place, with running data read once it is done.
Then a second diagnostic, confirming the change, resetting the warning light and listing anything still outstanding. Both read-outs are emailed over, so the before and after figures are kept.
Where cleaning is not the answer
Only one fault is cured by treatment: the filter blocked with ash and soot. It does nothing for:
- the wrong signal from a temperature or pressure sensor
- an EGR valve jammed open
- the AdBlue system failing
- faulty glow plugs or injectors, so not one regeneration ever runs
- turbo failure, with oil getting into the filter
Finding that out is the first diagnostic's job. If one of those proves the fault, you find out about it in advance rather than once the money has gone already.
Hollowing the filter out is not a solution: without a functioning DPF a vehicle cannot pass its MOT, and driving it is illegal. DPF renewal is the phrase people look up, though nothing is exchanged — your original filter is cleaned in place and put back into use. Two more worth bearing in mind.
Figures for DPF cleaning around Black Patch
The clean opens from £299. A call-out charge covers every visit, and covers the call-out itself, the booking, the diagnostic and the advice that follows.
Once we know what you drive, and roughly what the filter will take, the figure gets settled on the phone. A single price for everyone would not be truthful. What you run and where you are both move it: Black Patch itself, across at Merry Hill, or farther out within the B postcode area.
You are not billed for treatment that the scan says will not do it. The call-out charge still holds, because the visit, the diagnostic and the advice have happened.
The clean carries a 30-day warranty including aftercare, including an engineer travelling back out to Black Patch if the light returns inside that period.
Nat arrived from the company on time, was polite and explained what he was doing then just got on with it. Very efficient and well worth every penny. Nat should get a medal. Car is running fine now.
Daniel was an outstanding mechanic he went out of his way to help me fix my car would very highly recommend thank you!
Great experience, friendly and helpful. Stuck on holiday and no garages locally could help, gave these guys a call and within the hour Darren was there and had the problem sorted within a couple of hours!
Vehicles we clean, and where we reach near Black Patch
Cars, vans of any size and light commercials, heavy goods vehicles, construction and plant machinery, agricultural machinery — the one mobile service across all of them, and on all of them the filter is treated where it sits rather than carried anywhere.
The same trip that puts engineers on Foundry Lane most weeks takes in Black Patch, Merry Hill, Winson Green and the places beyond Smethwick. Coverage runs UK-wide, so further out across West Midlands is still worth a ring, and what settles between today and tomorrow is the diary rather than the distance.

What Black Patch drivers want to know about DPF cleaning
- Is a long drive enough by itself?
- Soon enough, and with the car out of limp mode, yes — sometimes. It wants a steady run at motorway speed, not ten minutes to Lidl and back.
- Does the visit take long?
- It is typically around 2 hours. A heavily loaded filter can require a second clean, which extends that.
- Cost around Black Patch — what is it?
- It begins from £299, plus the call-out charge paying for the visit, the scan and the advice. We price on the phone, because the vehicle and your address both change the price.
- Must I be there in person?
- Nobody expects you to stand with it — the vehicle only wants a spot to wait for a couple of hours. If you would sooner come along, the regeneration can be carried out as a supervised drive instead.
- Can someone travel to Black Patch soon?
- Depending on the diary, often same-day or next-day is usual. One call to 0303 330 1830 and you will learn what the B area has available.
- Is the filter removed from the vehicle?
- On the mobile service, no: the filter is cleaned in place. We never get filters off or fit them back on, whichever way.
- The light comes back — then what?
- Covered by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer heading back to Black Patch.
