Mobile DPF Cleaner

Mobile DPF Cleaning serving Bissom, Cornwall

On-site DPF cleaning goes to the car. Your car will not be taken away and the filter will not leave it. An engineer comes at your place in Bissom, clears the diesel particulate filter still on the car and runs a DPF regeneration.

Nobody sets off until the price is settled by the phone. The visit takes typically around 2 hours and the clean opens from £299.

Most owners find us with the light showing, and the vehicle short of power. That is the situation this page is written for.

Your DPF light is on — what now?

The unit is not automatically what is to blame, and that leads. That light can come from several faults, not merely one, so the visit starts with a check and not with cleaning.

How the motor is handled in the meantime matters too.

  • Motor even now driving normally on an amber light — have a go at a long steady run first. It costs nothing at all and frequently shifts the filter without a visit.
  • A drive will not reach it now — limp mode means that window has already shut.
  • Get it seen to rather than running it — diesel in the interior, or smoke on acceleration, has gone beyond the long-run stage.

Before the light, what the motor was showing you

The light is belated news. By the time it appears, the symptoms have usually been growing for a while:

  • power falling off, above all pulling uphill
  • revs that will not pull the way they always did
  • worse fuel economy
  • quietly, the stop/start bows out
  • a diesel smell in the interior, or smoke under acceleration

On its own, none of that is conclusive. Alongside the light, it is a fair guess the filter is loaded.

What clogs diesel particulate filters near Bissom

Being a rural hamlet, Bissom generates exactly the motoring a DPF manages the poorest. The school run to Penryn Primary Academy, Bissom Road at a standstill at half past eight, five minutes to Lidl, the hop to Penryn — not one bit of it lasts long enough or is hot enough for the filter to complete a regeneration. What should burn off stays put.

Neither is far from Bissom: over 50 miles to the M5, under 10 miles to Truro. Neither is on the way to much most weeks, though, so the journey that would clear a filter simply never gets made.

DPF regeneration, and the stage limp mode ends it

Limp mode is the car protecting itself. The whole problem is that a long drive works by setting off a regeneration, and once in limp mode the revs will not climb and power is capped.

Getting it up the motorway is the common advice, and it stands up to a limit. In limp mode you are past that stage: cleaning is what will help, not more driving.

A clogged DPF cleaned in Bissom, Cornwall

The car stays put for mobile DPF cleaning across Bissom

Most drivers do not expect this part: the filter remains. The job happens with the DPF yet fitted to the vehicle — on your driveway, in a work car park, wherever the car can sit for a few hours.

Nothing is cleaned until other faults are eliminated. That means a diagnostic first: running data off the ECU, soot load by percent and by mass, and a check of the sensor feeds, glow plugs and connected components.

Soot and ash that a regeneration alone will never budge are loosened next, by a solution fed through the entry point on that motor, which spreads inside the filter. Where the filter is heavily clogged, allow for a second pass.

Then a regeneration, to burn off what the clean has lifted. Stay with the vehicle and it becomes a monitored drive out of Bissom. Leave it and the regeneration runs statically, with real-time data checked once it is done.

Finally the diagnostic runs again — the change proven, the light put out, anything still outstanding noted. Both read-outs reach you by email, so the numbers are kept.

When a DPF clean is not the fix

One thing is what cleaning cures — a filter choked with soot and ash. It does nothing for:

  • a pressure sensor reporting a restriction that is not there
  • a stuck-open EGR valve
  • an AdBlue system fault
  • failed glow plugs or injectors, so not one regeneration ever completes
  • turbo trouble, with oil entering the filter

That is what the first diagnostic is for. You are told before any work gets going, not after you have paid, if it turns out to be one of those.

DPF renewal is what people look up, but no part is replaced: the filter you have is cleared where it sits and put back to work. Nor is having it gutted a remedy, since the MOT then fails and driving becomes an offence. Two more things worth knowing.

The cost for DPF cleaning in Bissom

Cleaning opens from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it pays for the call-out, the booking, the checks and the advice.

Once we know what you run, and broadly what the filter will need, the figure gets fixed by phone. A single price for every job would not be honest. What you run and where you are both change it: Bissom itself, over at St Gluvias, or otherwise out within the TR postcode area.

Treatment that will not do it is not cleaning you pay for, and the scan is what says so. You nonetheless pay that charge: someone travelled, ran the scan and passed on you the advice.

A 30-day warranty includes aftercare on the clean, and that includes an engineer coming back out to Bissom if the light reappears inside the window.

Where we get to near Bissom, and what we clean

Whatever it is — car, van, light commercial, lorry, plant, construction machinery, farm vehicle — the very same mobile service applies, and the filter never quits it.

Engineers are along Bissom Road nearly every week, so Bissom is rarely a journey of its own, and the same run takes in St Gluvias, Tregew and the places out past Flushing. It is the diary, not the distance, that decides whether it is today or tomorrow, and coverage extends UK-wide — so phone anyway from further out around Cornwall.

Things Bissom drivers ask about DPF cleaning

Is a long drive enough by itself?
If you get it early enough, and the car is not in limp mode, sometimes. It needs a steady run at motorway speed, not five minutes or so to Lidl and back.
How long does the visit last?
Reckon on typically around 2 hours, with a second clean adding to that where the filter is severely blocked.
How much does it come to across Bissom?
It begins from £299, plus the call-out charge covering the visit, the diagnostic and the advice. The vehicle and your address both move the figure, so we quote on the phone.
Must I be around in person?
A spot for the car to stand, for a couple of hours, is all that is wanted. Not you. If you would rather come along, the regeneration can be run as a supervised drive instead.
How soon can someone travel to Bissom?
You are offered often same-day or next-day, though it depends what is already in the diary. Ring 0303 330 1830 and you will hear what is open across the TR area.
The filter — does it leave the vehicle?
It is cleaned where it is, on the call-out service. And neither does lifting a filter off nor fitting one back on is work we do.
The light reappears — then what?
Taken in by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer coming back to Bissom.
