Bentlawnt, Shropshire: Mobile DPF Cleaning
With call-out DPF cleaning, we come to the motor. An engineer comes at your place over in Bentlawnt, clears the diesel particulate filter while it is fitted to the motor, performs a DPF regeneration, and you keep the filter you came with.
Allow for the visit taking typically around 2 hours. The clean starts from £299, agreed by the phone before anyone leaves.
If the light is on already and the car is low on power, this page is yours. That is how most drivers arrive here.
DPF light on? What happens next
The unit is not automatically what is wrong, and that comes first. Cleaning is not where a visit starts. A scan is — plenty of faults register as the same warning.
The driving you get in the meantime matters. That is the next thing.
- Amber light, motor yet driving normally — a long steady run can yet clear it by itself. Costs nothing, and worth a try before you ring anything.
- Once the vehicle is in limp mode, motoring will not reach it. The window has closed.
- Get it seen to rather than driving it — diesel in the car, or smoke on hard acceleration, has gone beyond the long-run stage.
Signs the vehicle has been giving you
Symptoms have normally been building for a while before the light even arrives. Belated news, in other words:
- falling off on power, particularly uphill
- an engine whose revs will not climb as they should
- fuel use that is worse than before
- the stop/start without a word packing in
- a diesel smell in the cabin, or smoke under acceleration
That is not evidence by itself. Next to the light beside them, the filter is a fair assumption.
Choked diesel particulate filters around Bentlawnt, and the cause
The driving that belongs to a rural village like Bentlawnt is the worst type for a DPF. A regeneration wants time and heat, and has not much: not on the school run to Long Mountain CofE Primary School, not on Drury Lane at half past eight, not on five minutes to Co-op Food, and not on the hop to Welshpool. What should burn off stays put.
Neither is a long way from Bentlawnt: under 25 miles to the M54, under 50 miles to Wrexham. Neither is on the way to anything most weeks, though, so the drive that would empty a filter never gets made.
Why limp mode stops a DPF regeneration
It is self-preservation: that is all limp mode amounts to. Power is limited, the revs will not rise, and the regeneration the filter needs can not complete — which is the whole problem, because a long drive works by starting that regeneration.
Getting it up the motorway is the common advice, and it works right up to a point. Beyond that stage — limp mode — road work will not be enough, and the filter requires a clean.
Call-out DPF cleaning where the motor stands across Bentlawnt
Nothing comes off the car. That throws people. The DPF remains fixed where it is and the work is done around it, on a driveway, in a works car park, any place it can stand for two hours or so.
The ECU is interrogated first, reporting soot load by proportion and by mass, along with a look over of sensor feeds, glow plugs and related hardware, so nothing is started while another fault is still open.
A cleaning solution next is injected through the entry point on that motor, opening out inside the filter to lift soot and ash a regeneration by itself will never budge. Sometimes a filter is clogged enough to need doing twice.
Then a regeneration, to burn off what the clean has freed. Stay with the vehicle and it becomes a monitored drive out of Bentlawnt. Drop it and the regeneration is done on the spot, with live data checked once it is done.
Finally the scan runs again — the change verified, the light reset, anything still showing logged. Both sets of figures arrive with you by email, so the numbers are on record.
Where cleaning is not the solution
A filter choked with soot and ash is the one thing cleaning cures. It will not reach:
- sensors, pressure or temperature, reporting a block that is not real
- an EGR valve jammed open
- the AdBlue system failing
- a regeneration that hardly ever completes, because of glow plugs or injectors
- oil passing through the filter from a failing turbo
Which is why the scan happens first. When it turns out to be one of those, you are told before any work gets going rather than after you have paid anything.
Two things more worth bearing in mind. Having the filter cut out is not a fix — a vehicle without a serviceable DPF cannot pass its MOT and driving it is an offence. And cleaning is sometimes searched for as DPF renewal: nothing is swapped, your own filter is cleaned in place and returned into use.
The cost for DPF cleaning in Bentlawnt
Any visit carries a call-out charge — getting to you, setting up the booking, doing the check and passing on the advice. The clean itself begins from £299.
The figure is settled on the phone, once we know the vehicle and what the filter is apt to need. No flat rate could be honest. Two separate things shift it: what you own, and where you are — Bentlawnt itself, out at Hope Park, or further out across the SY postcode area.
Where the scan says cleaning will not help, you are not charged for a clean. You still pay that charge: someone turned up, did the diagnostic and offered you the advice.
A 30-day warranty covers aftercare on the job, and that includes an engineer travelling back out to Bentlawnt if the light returns inside the time.
Great service, Dave the the guy he fixed my car was very friendly and helpful. D P F fixer highly recommended company, thank you.
10/10 experience. I called, got someone out the next day. Nat came and was friendly, efficient and did a great job!
Daz was absolutely amazing. He was lovely and talked me through everything. He has educated me a bit more about my vehicle. Couldn't be more happier.
What we clean, and how far we reach round Bentlawnt
Whatever it is — estate, light van, light commercial, HGV, plant, construction machinery, agricultural vehicle — the one mobile service holds, and the filter never quits it.
Week in week out there is usually someone on Drury Lane, so Bentlawnt rarely means a detour, and Hope Park, Gravelsbank and the spots past Worthen come with it. Farther out around Shropshire is even so worth phoning about — coverage is UK-wide, and it is the schedule rather than the distance that picks between this day and the next.

Questions Bentlawnt drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Will a long drive clear it?
- Sometimes, if you get it early enough and the vehicle has not slipped into limp mode. A steady run at motorway speed is what it takes — not ten minutes to Co-op Food and back.
- The visit runs how long?
- Bank on typically around 2 hours, with a second clean lengthening that where the filter is severely loaded.
- How much does it come to across Bentlawnt?
- A clean begins from £299, and the call-out charge on top takes in the visit, the diagnostic and the advice. We quote on the phone, because the vehicle and your address both shift the figure.
- Is it necessary for me to be there?
- No. The motor needs space to sit for a couple of hours; nobody expects you to stand with it. The regeneration can be done as a monitored drive if you would rather be there.
- Coming to Bentlawnt — how soon?
- You are in for often same-day or next-day, though it depends what is now in the diary. Ring 0303 330 1830 and you will know what is open across the SY area.
- Does the filter come off the car?
- Not on the on-site service — it is treated where it sits. Taking a filter off or bolting one back on amount to anything a job we do in either direction.
- And if the light returns?
- Aftercare falls inside the 30-day warranty, and that includes an engineer heading back to Bentlawnt.
