Mobile DPF Cleaning in Beauly and Highland

With on-site DPF cleaning, we travel to the motor. A technician turns up at your place in Beauly, treats the diesel particulate filter while it is still on the motor, runs a DPF regeneration, and you keep the filter you came with.

You'll know a number by phone before anyone goes, the clean opening from £299, and the visit taking typically around 2 hours.

If the light is showing and the vehicle is short of power, this page is for you. That is how most people arrive here.

What to check when the DPF light is on

The unit is not necessarily what is wrong, and that comes first. That light can come from plenty of faults, not just one, so the visit begins with a diagnostic and not with cleaning.

How the motor is handled in the meantime counts too.

  • Amber light, car still driving as normal — a long even run can still clear it alone. Costs zero, and worth attempting before you ring anything.
  • Once the vehicle is in limp mode, driving will not shift it. The window has shut.
  • Diesel smell in the interior, or black smoke under hard acceleration — stop planning long drives and get it seen to.

What the vehicle has been warning you

By the time the light shows, things have normally been slipping for a while. It is late news:

  • power tailing off, particularly going uphill
  • you see the revs stop short of where they always went
  • consumption that is worse than before
  • a stop/start that has quietly given up
  • smoke under the throttle, or a diesel smell in there

That is not evidence on its own. It is a fair assumption the filter is blocked once the light is there too.

Why diesel particulate filters clog near Beauly

For a DPF, the worst use is the type you get in a village such as Beauly. Nothing of it goes on long enough or runs hot enough for the filter to see through a regeneration: the school run to the local primary school, Croyard Road crawling at the morning rush, five minutes to Co-op Food, the hop to the nearest station. What should burn off remains.

The M90 sits over 50 miles from Beauly, Inverness under 10 miles away, and unless something carries you out that way often, full weeks pass without the long steady run that scours a filter. Geography does not assist.

DPF regeneration, and the point limp mode ends it

What limp mode comes down to is the car looking after itself. A sustained drive works by setting off a regeneration, and that is exactly what limp mode blocks: power limited, revs kept low, no regeneration on offer.

Getting it up the motorway is the common advice, and it holds up to a line. In limp mode you are past that line: a clean is what will help, not more driving.

The motor stays in place for on-site DPF cleaning in Beauly

On your driveway, in a work car park, any place the car can sit for a few hours: the job happens with the filter even now fixed on, which is the detail most owners do not anticipate.

First a scan. Running ECU data, the soot load as a percentage and as a figure, the sensor feeds, the glow plugs, the connected parts — all of it read before anything is started.

Soot and ash that a regeneration on its own will never budge are freed next, by a solution put through the entry point on that car, which opens out inside the filter. Severely clogged filters sometimes require a second pass.

Then a regeneration, to drive off what the clean has loosened. That is a monitored drive out of Beauly if you are along, or a static regeneration where the motor waits, with the live data read after.

Finally the scan runs again — the change verified, the light reset, anything still open logged. Both sets of figures reach you by email, so the numbers are on record.

Where a clean is not the fix

Cleaning fixes one thing: a filter blocked with soot and ash. It does little for:

  • pressure sensors flagging a blockage that is not there
  • the EGR valve jammed open
  • an AdBlue system fault
  • worn glow plugs or injectors, so no regeneration ever runs
  • turbo problems, with oil reaching the filter

Which is why the check happens first. You are warned before all work starts, not after you have settled up, if it turns out to be one of those.

Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter hollowed out will fail its MOT, and driving it is illegal, so that is no solution. What gets typed in as DPF renewal exchanges nothing: your existing filter is cleared in place and goes back into service.

The figure of DPF cleaning across Beauly

A call-out charge applies whatever happens, and takes in the visit, the booking fee, the scan and the advice passed on. Treatment itself starts from £299.

Publishing a flat rate would not be straight. We fix it on the phone, once the car and its expected needs are known. A pair of things change it: what you run, and where you are — Beauly itself, over at Rheindown, or further out across the IV postcode area.

If the scan rules a clean out, there is not a penny to pay for it. You still pay that charge: someone turned up, ran the scan and offered you the advice.

Aftercare is included by a 30-day warranty: should the light return within it, an engineer returns to Beauly.

Vehicles we clean, and where we travel around Beauly

The filter is treated where it sits on all of them: cars and estates, panel vans and light commercials, HGVs and lorries, plant machinery, agricultural vehicles. Nothing is moved anywhere.

Our engineers are along Croyard Road nearly every week, so Beauly is rarely a journey of its own, and the same run takes in Rheindown, Wester Balblair and the places out past Kirkhill. It is the calendar, not the distance, that decides whether it is this day or the next, and coverage reaches UK-wide — so ring still from further out across Highland.

Beauly itself

Beauly is a small village situated on the banks of the River Beauly in the Scottish Highlands, with a population of around 777 residents. Beauly sits at a low elevation of approximately 7 metres above sea level, near the cities of Inverness and the surrounding countryside. Beauly is characterized by its predominantly detached housing stock and its proximity to nearby places such as Rheindown, Dunmore, and Windhill. Beauly is located about 8.7 miles from Inverness, the nearest city.

Usual questions on DPF cleaning around Beauly

Is a long drive enough by itself?
It can, provided you catch it in time and limp mode has not set in. That means motorway speed for a long stretch, rather than a brief trip to Co-op Food.
Broadly how long does it run?
Allow typically around 2 hours — heavily blocked filters sometimes require a second pass, which adds to it.
What does it come to across Beauly?
Starting from £299, with a charge for the call-out that takes in the diagnostic and advice on what to do next. We settle it on the phone, because the vehicle and your address both change the price.
Do I have to be around?
Somewhere for the vehicle to stand, for a couple of hours, is all that is needed. Not you. The regeneration can be done as a monitored drive if you would prefer to come along.
When can someone come to Beauly?
You are offered often same-day or next-day, though it depends what is now in the schedule. Phone 0303 330 1830 and you will hear what is free across the IV area.
The filter — does it leave the motor?
Not on the on-site service — it is treated where it is. We do not lift filters off or put them back on, in either direction.
The light comes back — then what?
Aftercare sits inside the 30-day warranty, and that includes an engineer heading back to Beauly.
