Mobile DPF Cleaning covering Battlefield, Shropshire
Treating the DPF is done at the vehicle, not at a garage. No workshop, no filter going anywhere. An engineer drives out to your door in Battlefield, treats the diesel particulate filter as it sits, runs a DPF regeneration, and you hold on to the filter you arrived with.
You'll have a number by phone before anyone leaves, the clean starting from £299, and the visit lasting typically around 2 hours.
If the light is already on and the car is down on power, this page is for you. That is how most drivers get to us.
DPF light on? What comes next
It might not be the unit in the end. That is the first thing. A diagnostic goes before any treatment, because that same panel light has a number of candidate faults behind it.
It tells what you manage with the car between now and the appointment.
- Amber light, vehicle even now driving normally — a long steady run can yet clear it by itself. Costs nothing, and worth trying before you book anything.
- Car already gone into limp mode — that window has gone. A drive will not touch it now.
- Get it seen to rather than running it — diesel in the car, or smoke on the throttle, has gone past the long-run stage.
Before the light, what the motor was telling you
Symptoms have usually been growing for some time before the light ever appears. Belated news, in other words:
- power falling off, above all climbing uphill
- you find the revs never reach where they once went
- consumption that is worse than it used to be
- silently, the stop/start bows out
- smoke under acceleration, or a diesel smell in there
Any one of those, taken alone, is not proof. It is a fair guess the filter is blocked once the light is on as well.
The reason diesel particulate filters clog around Battlefield
For a DPF, the least kind motoring is the sort you get around a residential suburb such as Battlefield. A regeneration needs long enough and heat, and gets not much: not on the school run to Greenacres Primary School, not on Lion Coppice View at the morning rush, not on five minutes to Aldi, and not on the dash to Shrewsbury. The soot load banks up rather than burning away.
The M54 sits under 10 miles from Battlefield, Wrexham under 25 miles away, and unless something carries you out that way often, entire weeks slip past without the long unbroken run that scours a DPF. Geography does not oblige.
The moment a DPF regeneration can no longer complete
The motor is defending itself, which is what limp mode means. The real catch is that a proper drive works by setting off a regeneration, and once in limp mode the revs will not climb and power is capped.
The standard advice — get it up the motorway — is sound, until it is not. Once the car is in limp mode you are past that line, and the filter requires a clean rather than road work.
The motor stays where it is for call-out DPF cleaning round Battlefield
Nothing is taken from the vehicle. That throws people. The DPF remains fixed where it is and the work happens around it, on a driveway, in a works car park, wherever it can wait for a couple of hours.
First a check. Live ECU data, the soot load as a proportion and as a weight, the sensors, the glow plugs, the related hardware — all of it taken before any of it is cleaned.
Next comes the clean itself: solution in through the car's own entry point, expanding inside the filter and loosening what a regeneration cannot. Where the filter is heavily clogged, plan on a second pass.
What the clean has lifted is then cleared by a regeneration. That is a monitored drive out of Battlefield if you are there, or a static regeneration where the car stands, with the live data verified afterwards.
Both reports are sent by email, so the figures from either end are on record. The second diagnostic is what verifies the change, resets the light and lists whatever is still showing.
Where cleaning is not the answer
A filter choked with soot and ash is the one thing treatment answers. It will not reach:
- pressure or temperature sensors flagging a restriction that is not there
- the EGR valve stuck open
- the AdBlue system failing
- glow plugs or injectors blocking the regeneration completing in the first place
- the turbo passing oil into the filter
Finding that out is the first diagnostic's purpose. You are let know before all work begins, not after you have settled up, if it turns out to be one of those.
DPF renewal is what people search for, but no part is exchanged: the filter you own is cleared where it sits and put back to work. Nor is having it cut out a remedy, since the MOT then fails and driving becomes unlawful. Two more things worth bearing in mind.
What DPF cleaning costs across Battlefield
Any visit carries a call-out charge — coming out to you, setting up the booking, doing the diagnostic and giving the advice. The clean itself opens from £299.
Publishing a flat rate would not be truthful. We settle it on the phone, once the motor and its likely needs are clear. What you drive and where you are both change it: Battlefield itself, over at Harlescott, or otherwise out across the SY postcode area.
You are not billed for treatment that the scan says will not help. Because the visit, the diagnostic and the advice have been done, the call-out charge still holds.
A 30-day warranty takes in aftercare on the job, and that includes an engineer coming back out to Battlefield if the light reappears inside the time.
We were very pleased with the service and the job carried out. Jason was very helpful explaining everything to us. The company was very prompt and Jason turned up on time. We found all the staff extremely helpful, polite and professional.
The engineer who came (Daz) was very efficient explained the whole process to me. It was clear he had a great deal of experience on dpf problems and their resolutions. Job well done.
Logan came out and talked me through everything. He ran a thorough check and concluded that I didn't need a clean, explained everything and then spent time with me talking me through what to do. Could have easily done an unnecessary clean and charged me. Mind at ease.
Vehicles we clean, and where we get to around Battlefield
Cars, vans and light commercials, HGVs and lorries, construction and plant machinery, farm vehicles — a single on-site service across all of them, and on all of them the filter is done in place rather than moved anywhere.
Most weeks there is by then someone on Lion Coppice View, so Battlefield hardly ever means a special trip, and Harlescott, Heathgates and the villages past Upper Astley follow. Call anyway from even further out across Shropshire. Coverage reaches UK-wide, and the slot you get hangs on the schedule rather than how far away you are.

Questions Battlefield drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Can I merely take it for a long drive?
- It can, provided you catch it early and limp mode has not arrived. Five minutes to Aldi and back will not be enough; motorway speed, held for some time, will.
- Roughly how long does it take?
- That is typically around 2 hours, though a heavily blocked filter can need cleaning twice, which adds time.
- How much does it cost in Battlefield?
- Treatment opens from £299, and the call-out charge on top covers the visit, the check and the advice. The vehicle and your address both move the figure, so we settle it on the phone.
- Do I have to be present?
- You do not need to stand with it — the car only needs a spot to wait for a couple of hours. Travel along if you prefer, and the regeneration turns into a watched drive.
- When can someone get to Battlefield?
- You are in for often same-day or next-day, though it depends what is already in the diary. Call 0303 330 1830 and you will hear what is available across the SY area.
- Will the filter be removed?
- Cleaned where it sits, on this service, so no. Lifting a filter off or fitting one back on count as anything something we do either way.
- And if the light returns?
- An engineer travels back out to Battlefield — the 30-day warranty includes aftercare.
