Bassenhally Field, Cambridgeshire: Mobile DPF Cleaning
On-site DPF cleaning goes to the car. The engineer arrives at your address over in Bassenhally Field and sets up. The diesel particulate filter is cleared on the vehicle, a DPF regeneration runs after it, and you hold on to the filter you came with.
Reckon on the visit running typically around 2 hours. The clean opens from £299, agreed on the phone before anyone sets off.
Most owners find us with the light already on, and the vehicle short of power. That is the position this page is meant for.
The DPF light is on. What next?
The filter is not necessarily what is at fault, and that goes first. That light can come from plenty of faults, not only one, so the visit starts with a scan and not with a clean.
It tells what you get with the vehicle between now and the visit.
- A long even run may still do it, provided the light is amber and the car runs as normal. Costs nothing, so attempt that before calling.
- A drive will not touch it now — limp mode means that window has already shut.
- A diesel smell in the car, or black smoke under the throttle, is the point to stop planning long drives and book it in.
Before the light, what the vehicle was telling you
The light is last news. By the time it arrives, the symptoms have generally been growing for weeks:
- less power, above all climbing uphill
- you notice the revs fall short of where they always went
- worse fuel consumption
- stop/start without a word packing in
- a diesel smell in the interior, or smoke under hard acceleration
None of that is conclusive on its own. It is a fair guess the filter is loaded once the light is there too.
Clogged diesel particulate filters round Bassenhally Field, and the reason
For a DPF, the poorest driving is the kind you get across a residential suburb such as Bassenhally Field. A regeneration needs the time and heat, and has not much: not on the school run to Alderman Jacobs School, not on Plover Road at half eight, not on ten minutes to Aldi, and not on the run to Whittlesea. Instead of burning away, the unburnt soot collects.
The Great North Road lies under 10 miles from Bassenhally Field, Peterborough under 10 miles away, and unless something takes you out that way routinely, entire weeks pass without the sustained run that clears a filter. Geography does not oblige.
Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration stops
The motor is looking after itself, which is what limp mode is. Output is held down, the revs will not climb, and the regeneration the filter requires can not complete — which is the entire difficulty, because a sustained drive works by triggering that regeneration.
The usual advice — get it up the motorway — is sensible, up until it is not. The far side of that point — limp mode — driving will not manage it, and the filter requires treatment.
The motor stays put for call-out DPF cleaning round Bassenhally Field
The filter does not leave it. That is the part most drivers do not see coming: the job takes place with the DPF still bolted to the vehicle, on your drive, in a work car park, any place the motor can wait for a couple of hours.
A scan comes first — live data off the ECU, soot load by percent and by actual weight, and a review of the sensor readings, glow plugs and related components, so other faults are eliminated before a thing is touched.
Then the clean. A solution is fed in through the access point on that car and expands inside the filter, lifting the soot and ash a regeneration on its own will never move. Severely loaded filters sometimes need a second pass.
A regeneration follows, burning off what the clean has lifted. That is a monitored drive out of Bassenhally Field if you are there, or a static regeneration where the motor waits, with the live data read afterwards.
Then a second check, proving the change, resetting the warning light and listing anything still showing. Both reports are emailed over, so the before and after figures are on record.
The failures a DPF clean cannot answer
Only one fault is cured by a clean: the filter blocked with ash and soot. It does little for:
- sensors, pressure, reporting a restriction that is not real
- a failed EGR valve
- an AdBlue system problem
- injectors or glow plugs that stop a regeneration starting whatsoever
- a turbo putting oil through the filter
The first check is there for precisely that. Transpiring to be one of them means finding out it before work gets going, not after settling up for it.
Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter hollowed out fails its MOT, and driving it is illegal, so that is no fix. What gets typed in as DPF renewal exchanges nothing: your own filter is cleaned in place and goes back into use.
What DPF cleaning costs in Bassenhally Field
Every visit takes a call-out charge — getting to you, taking the booking, doing the check and passing on the advice. The clean itself begins from £299.
The number is agreed on the phone, once we are told the vehicle and what the filter is going to need. No flat rate could be honest. What you drive and where you are both change it: Bassenhally Field itself, out at Eastrea, or farther out in the PE postcode area.
You are not billed for treatment that the diagnostic says will not work. Because the visit, the scan and the advice have been done, the call-out charge even so stands.
Aftercare is included by a 30-day warranty: should the light come back within it, an engineer heads back to Bassenhally Field.
Big thank you to the mechanic who came out to clean my DPF. He was extremely knowledgeable, incredibly helpful, and provided an amazing customer service experience from start to finish. Highly recommend!

Frequent questions on DPF cleaning in Bassenhally Field
- Will a long drive clear it?
- It can, provided you get it early and limp mode has not set in. Ten minutes to Aldi and back will not manage it; motorway speed, sustained for a while, will.
- How long does the visit take?
- Count on typically around 2 hours, with a second clean lengthening that where the filter is heavily loaded.
- In Bassenhally Field, what does it cost?
- The call-out charge takes in the visit, the scan and the advice; treatment itself begins from £299. The vehicle and your address both shift the price, so we settle it on the phone.
- Must I be present in person?
- Space for the motor to stand, for a couple of hours, is all that is required. Not you. The regeneration can be carried out as a watched drive if you would sooner come along.
- When can someone travel to Bassenhally Field?
- It is often same-day or next-day, depending on what is now in the calendar. Phone 0303 330 1830 and we will let you what is free across the PE area.
- Is the filter lifted off the car?
- On the mobile service, no: the filter is done in place. Nor does getting a filter off nor fitting one back on is work we do.
- The light reappears — then what?
- An engineer heads back out to Bassenhally Field — the 30-day warranty includes aftercare.
