Mobile DPF Cleaning serving Balmedie, Aberdeenshire
With on-site DPF cleaning, we travel to the motor. No workshop, no filter going anywhere. An engineer drives out to your door over in Balmedie, clears the diesel particulate filter in place, runs a DPF regeneration, and you hold on to the filter you came with.
Nobody sets off until the figure is agreed by the phone. The visit runs typically around 2 hours and the clean starts from £299.
Most owners find us with the light showing, and the vehicle low on power. That is exactly what this page is meant for.
What to try when the DPF light is on
Not the unit, automatically. Main thing to say. Plenty of faults put the same light on the same panel, which is why a visit begins with a check rather than with cleaning.
Second thing: how you drive it between now and then makes a difference.
- A long constant run may yet manage it, provided the light is amber and the vehicle drives fine. Costs nothing, so have a go at that before booking.
- A drive will not shift it now — limp mode means that window has by then gone.
- A diesel smell inside, or black smoke under hard acceleration, is the point to stop planning long drives and ring.
Signs the vehicle has been showing you
The light is last news. By the time it arrives, the symptoms have usually been building for weeks:
- power tailing off, above all pulling uphill
- the revs no longer rise the way they always did
- consumption that is worse than it used to be
- quietly, the stop/start bows out
- diesel in the car, or smoke on the way up through the box
Any one of those, taken by itself, is not evidence. The light alongside them points at a loaded filter.
What clogs diesel particulate filters around Balmedie
Being a coastal village, Balmedie produces just the driving a DPF manages least well. None of it lasts long enough or is hot enough for the filter to finish a regeneration: the school run to the local primary school, Old Mill Crescent crawling at half past eight, a few minutes to Co-op Food, the run to Dyce. Instead of clearing, the soot collects.
Save when you have a routine need to head out to the M90, over 50 miles from Balmedie, or over to Aberdeen under 10 miles away, whole weeks pass without a sustained stint. Geography is no help.
The stage a DPF regeneration can no longer run
Limp mode is the car looking after itself. A long drive works by starting a regeneration, and that is exactly what limp mode rules out: power limited, revs held down, no regeneration on offer.
The standard advice — get it up the motorway — is sensible, until it is not. In limp mode you are the far side of that line: a clean is what will do it, not more miles.
DPF cleaning at the car round Balmedie
On your driveway, in a work car park, wherever the vehicle can stand for a while: the job takes place with the filter even now fitted on, which is the part most owners do not expect.
A scan comes first — running data off the ECU, soot load by percentage and by mass, and a review of the sensor feeds, glow plugs and associated components, so other faults are eliminated before any of it is touched.
Then the clean. A cleaning fluid is injected through the access point on that car and opens out inside the filter, lifting the soot and ash a regeneration by itself will never shift. Where the filter is badly clogged, plan on a second pass.
A regeneration follows, burning off what the clean has lifted. If you are there, that is run as a monitored drive out of Balmedie; if not, in place where the vehicle waits, with the running data verified after.
Both read-outs go over by email, so the figures from either end are on record. The second scan is what verifies the change, clears the light and logs whatever is still open.
When a DPF clean is not the solution
A filter clogged with soot and ash is the one thing a clean answers. It will not reach:
- sensors, pressure, showing a restriction that is not real
- a stuck-open EGR valve
- an AdBlue system fault
- injectors or glow plugs that block a regeneration starting whatsoever
- turbo problems, with oil entering the filter
The first scan is there for just that. Where it is found to be one of those, you are told before any work begins rather than after you have settled up anything.
Two things more worth bearing in mind. Leaving the filter cut out is not a remedy — a vehicle without a serviceable DPF will fail its MOT and driving it is an offence. And cleaning is sometimes searched for as DPF renewal: nothing is replaced, your own filter is cleared in place and sent back into use.
The price of DPF cleaning across Balmedie
Any visit attracts a call-out charge — travelling to you, making the booking, carrying out the scan and passing on the advice. The clean itself starts from £299.
Once we know what you own, and roughly what the filter will take, the price gets settled on the phone. A single price for every job would not be straight. The vehicle changes it, and so does the postcode — Balmedie, Hill of Keir, or somewhere further out in the AB postcode area.
You are not charged for treatment that the check says will not help. Because the visit, the scan and the advice have taken place, the call-out charge even so stands.
The job comes with a 30-day warranty including aftercare, including an engineer coming back out to Balmedie if the light comes back inside that window.
Liam was very professional and a very nice man. He explained everything in great detail. I would definitely recommend using DPF fixer if you have a problem with your vehicles DPF.
Just as it says on the tin, brilliant work by Ethan first class would fully recommend this service.
Booking was easy and the guy on the phone was friendly and helpful. They me booked within a few days. Ash came out and was also friendly and helpful and honest and clearly knew his stuff about cars.
What we clean, and how far we go near Balmedie
Whatever it is — car, panel van, light commercial, HGV, plant, construction machinery, agricultural vehicle — the very same on-site service stands, and the filter never departs it.
Balmedie is rarely a special trip: our engineers are along Old Mill Crescent week in week out, and the same run takes in Hill of Keir, Belhelvie and the spots out past Potterton. Coverage is UK-wide, so even further out around Aberdeenshire is even so worth a ring, and what settles between today and tomorrow is the diary rather than the distance.

Usual questions on DPF cleaning around Balmedie
- Is a long drive enough on its own?
- Soon enough, and with the motor out of limp mode, yes — sometimes. A steady run at motorway speed is what it takes — not fifteen minutes flat to Co-op Food and back.
- How long does the visit take?
- That is typically around 2 hours, though a severely loaded filter can take cleaning twice, which takes longer.
- In Balmedie, what does it come to?
- The call-out charge takes in the visit, the check and the advice; the clean itself starts from £299. The vehicle and your address both change the number, so we price on the phone.
- Must I be present in person?
- Nobody expects you to stand with it — the vehicle only needs somewhere to sit for a couple of hours. The regeneration can be done as a monitored drive if you would sooner be there.
- When can someone get to Balmedie?
- That depends on the calendar, but it is often same-day or next-day. Ring 0303 330 1830 and you will hear what is available across the AB area.
- Is the filter taken off the vehicle?
- On the mobile service, no: the filter is cleaned in place. We will not get filters off or put them back on, either way.
- The light returns — then what?
- Covered by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer coming back to Balmedie.
