Mobile DPF Cleaner

Mobile DPF Cleaning covering Bagnor, Berkshire

On-site DPF cleaning travels to the car. A fitter arrives at your door across Bagnor, clears the diesel particulate filter while it is fitted to the vehicle, performs a DPF regeneration, and you end up with the filter you started with.

The visit runs typically around 2 hours, the clean starts from £299, and the number is settled over the phone before anyone travels.

The light is showing and the motor is down on power — that is how we normally meet people, and roughly what this page covers.

What to check when the DPF light shows

The unit is not automatically what is wrong, and that comes first. Several faults put the very same light on the same panel, which is why a visit opens with a scan rather than with a clean.

The use you manage in the meantime matters. That is the other thing.

  • A long constant run may still be enough, provided the light is amber and the motor runs normally. Costs zero, so have a go at that before booking.
  • Once the car is in limp mode, a long run will not reach it. The window has gone.
  • Stop arranging long drives and get it looked at if the cabin stinks of diesel or there is black smoke when you accelerate.

Signs the car has been sending you

Symptoms have usually been building for a while before the light even shows. Last news, in other words:

  • tailing off on power, especially uphill
  • revs that will not pull the way they used to
  • economy that is worse than it was
  • without a word, the stop/start packs in
  • diesel in the interior, or smoke on the way up through the box

None of that is evidence alone. It is a fair bet the filter is blocked once the light is there too.

Choked diesel particulate filters round Bagnor, and the reason

Bagnor is a rural hamlet, and the day-to-day driving that belongs to one is the worst kind for a DPF. Think about a normal week: Robert Sandilands Primary School and Nursery and home, Bagnor Road at a halt before half nine, a short hop to Waitrose, a dash to Newbury. Not much there goes on long enough or is hot enough to see through a regeneration. The soot that should clear banks up instead.

Geography does not help either. The M4 is under 3 miles from Bagnor and Oxford is under 25 miles away, so unless something carries you out that way routinely, weeks pass without the long unbroken run that could clear the filter on its own.

Why limp mode blocks a DPF regeneration

Limp mode is the car protecting itself. Pulling power is capped, the revs will not pull, and the regeneration the filter needs can not happen — which is the real problem, because a sustained drive works by triggering that regeneration.

Sound advice, that motorway run — right up until the day it is not. Past that line — limp mode — road work will not do it, and the filter needs treatment.

The filter does not leave it. That is the part most owners do not anticipate: the job takes place with the DPF still bolted to the car, on your driveway, in a work car park, wherever the car can stand for a couple of hours.

A check comes first — real-time data off the ECU, soot load by percent and by mass, and a check of the sensor readings, glow plugs and connected parts, so other faults are eliminated before a thing is started.

Then comes the clean itself: solution in through the car's own entry point, expanding inside the filter and loosening what a regeneration will not. A second pass is sometimes called for on severely clogged filters.

A regeneration comes next, clearing what the clean has loosened. Either it goes as a monitored drive out of Bagnor, with you present, or it runs where the motor sits and the running data is checked afterwards.

Then a second check, proving the change, clearing the warning light and listing anything still showing. Both sets of figures are emailed, so the before and after figures are kept.

What a DPF clean will not cure

Only one fault is answered by cleaning: the filter clogged with ash and soot. It does no good for:

  • the wrong signal from a temperature sensor
  • EGR valves that jam open
  • a fault in the AdBlue system
  • glow plugs or injectors stopping the regeneration running whatsoever
  • a turbo pushing oil through the filter

That is what the first check is for. When one of those is the fault, you learn of it in advance rather than once the money has changed hands already.

Cutting the filter out is not a solution: without a functioning DPF a vehicle will fail its MOT, and driving it is an offence. DPF renewal is the term people look up, though nothing is exchanged — your own filter is cleared in place and sent back into use. Two more worth bearing in mind.

The figure for DPF cleaning across Bagnor

A clean begins from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it covers the call-out, the booking, the scans and the advice.

Once we have what you own, and broadly what the filter will take, the figure gets fixed on the phone. A single price for everyone would not be honest. The place you are matters as much as what you own: Bagnor itself, Speen next door, or further out in the RG postcode area.

Where the check says a clean will not help, you are not billed for a clean. What still stands is the call-out charge, since the visit was made, the scan was done and the advice was passed on.

A 30-day warranty takes in aftercare on the clean, and that includes an engineer coming back out to Bagnor if the light comes back inside the period.

The vehicles we clean and the area we reach round Bagnor

Whatever it is — car, light van, light commercial, heavy goods vehicle, plant, construction machinery, agricultural machine — the one on-site service applies, and the filter never quits it.

Week in week out there is already someone on Bagnor Road, so Bagnor hardly ever means a detour, and Speen, Donnington and the places past Winterbourne come with it. Even further out through Berkshire is nonetheless worth ringing about — coverage is UK-wide, and it is the calendar rather than the distance that picks between one day and the next.

Bagnor itself

Bagnor is a small hamlet situated on the riverside in Berkshire, with a low elevation of around 83 metres. Bagnor lies near the villages of Woodspeen and Speen, and is close to the town of Donnington. Bagnor has a population of approximately 365 people, predominantly living in detached houses. Bagnor is located within commuting distance of Oxford, which is around 23 miles away.

What Bagnor drivers want to know about DPF cleaning

Does a long run shift it?
It can, provided you get it early and limp mode has not begun. A sustained run at motorway speed is what it needs — not fifteen minutes or so to Waitrose and back.
Roughly how long does it take?
Plan on typically around 2 hours — severely blocked filters sometimes need a second pass, which lengthens it.
How much does it cost across Bagnor?
It opens from £299, plus the call-out charge taking in the visit, the diagnostic and the advice. Quoting is done by phone, since what you run and where you live both shift the number.
Must I be around in person?
No. The vehicle requires space to wait for a couple of hours; nobody expects you to stand with it. Wanting to be there is welcome: the regeneration then runs out on the open road, monitored.
How soon can someone get to Bagnor?
Depending on the schedule, often same-day or next-day is typical. Ask 0303 330 1830 what is available across the RG area.
Will the filter be lifted off?
It is cleaned where it stands, on the call-out service. And neither does getting a filter off nor putting one back on is work we do.
Suppose the light returns?
The 30-day warranty includes aftercare, including an engineer heading back to Bagnor.
