Augher, County Tyrone: Mobile DPF Cleaning
Cleaning the DPF is done at the vehicle, not at a body shop. Your motor is not taken anywhere and the filter will not come off. A technician turns up at your address across Augher, cleans the diesel particulate filter still on the motor and performs a DPF regeneration.
Reckon on the visit running typically around 2 hours. The clean starts from £299, agreed by the phone before anyone sets off.
If the light is already on and the motor is down on power, this page is the right one. That is how most people arrive here.
What to try when the DPF light comes on
Not the DPF, always. First thing to say. That light can come from a number of faults, not just one, so the visit starts with a check and not with treatment.
It matters what you manage with the car between now and the appointment.
- Motor even now driving as normal on an amber light — try a long constant run first. It costs zero and regularly shifts the filter without a visit.
- A drive will not shift it now — limp mode means that window has now closed.
- A diesel smell inside, or black smoke under acceleration, is the moment to stop planning long drives and book it in.
Signs the car has been sending you
By the time the light appears, things have usually been going wrong for a while. It is last news:
- power tailing off, particularly pulling uphill
- you see the revs stop short of where they once went
- fuel economy turning worse
- a stop/start that has meekly given up
- a diesel smell in the cabin, or smoke under acceleration
By itself, none of that is conclusive. It is a fair guess the filter is loaded once the light is there too.
What blocks diesel particulate filters round Augher
Augher is a small village, and the motoring that belongs to one is the worst sort for a DPF. Run through a normal week: the local primary school and home again, Wallace Cottages at a crawl before nine, a short hop to the local shops, a hop to the nearest station. Not much there runs long enough or is hot enough to finish a regeneration. The soot that should clear builds up instead.
The M77 sits over 50 miles from Augher, Armagh under 25 miles away, and unless something pulls you out that way often, full weeks slip past without the long steady run that empties a DPF. Geography does not help.
The stage a DPF regeneration can no longer happen
Limp mode is the car protecting itself. A sustained drive works by starting a regeneration, and that is precisely what limp mode prevents: power limited, revs held down, no regeneration available.
The usual advice — get it up the motorway — is sound, until it is not. In limp mode you are beyond that line: cleaning is what will do it, not more road work.
DPF cleaning at the motor across Augher
The filter does not come off. That is the part most owners do not expect: the job happens with the DPF even now fixed to the vehicle, on your front, in a work car park, anywhere the motor can stand for a few hours.
A diagnostic goes first — live data off the ECU, soot load by percentage and by actual weight, and a look over of the sensors, glow plugs and related components, so other faults are eliminated before anything is cleaned.
Soot and ash that a regeneration by itself will never budge are lifted next, by a cleaning fluid fed through the entry point on that motor, which opens out inside the filter. Where the filter is badly loaded, allow for a second pass.
Next, a regeneration clears everything the clean freed. Stay with the vehicle and it turns into a monitored drive out of Augher. Drop it and the regeneration goes in place, with running data verified once it is done.
Then a second diagnostic, proving the change, putting out the warning light and listing anything still logged. Both sets of figures are emailed over, so the before and after figures are kept.
What a DPF clean will not cure
Only one fault is cured by treatment: the filter blocked with ash and soot. It does little for:
- sensors, pressure, showing a blockage that is not real
- the EGR valve stuck open
- an AdBlue system failure
- a regeneration that simply never starts, because of glow plugs or injectors
- the turbo passing oil into the filter
That is what the first check is for. If one of those turns out to be the fault, you find out about it in advance rather than once the money has changed hands already.
Hollowing the filter out is not a solution: without a serviceable DPF a vehicle cannot pass its MOT, and driving it is against the law. DPF renewal is the term people search for, though nothing is exchanged — your existing filter is treated in place and sent back into use. Two more worth knowing.
What DPF cleaning comes to in Augher
Every visit attracts a call-out charge — travelling to you, setting up the booking, doing the diagnostic and giving the advice. The clean itself opens from £299.
Once we have what you drive, and about what the filter will need, the price gets agreed on the phone. A single price for everyone would not be straight. The car shifts it, and so does the address — Augher, Garvaghey, or a spot otherwise out in the BT postcode area.
Where the diagnostic says a clean will not work, you are not charged for cleaning. Because the visit, the scan and the advice have happened, the call-out charge even so applies.
Aftercare is covered by a 30-day warranty: should the light reappear within it, an engineer returns to Augher.
Excellent service. Arrived on time and happily let my husband watch the process. Very helpful and explained everything. Not cheap but the difference in the car is amazing. Would recommend.
dave was polite, very informative and explained very clearly what he was doing. there was no pressure in any work to be carried, over all very impressed with the service and will definitely use again.
First class service from initial contact to last. Kieran, the engineer sent, was so knowledgeable and detailed in his explanations and paperwork. Very impressive.
Vehicles we clean, and where we reach near Augher
Cars and estates, vans of any size and light commercials, heavy goods vehicles, plant and construction machinery, farm vehicles — the one on-site service across all of them, and on all of them the filter is treated where it sits rather than taken anywhere.
The same run that has engineers on Wallace Cottages most weeks covers Augher, Garvaghey, Ballygawley and the spots beyond Omagh. Coverage is UK-wide, so farther out through County Tyrone is nonetheless worth a call, and what picks between today and tomorrow is the schedule rather than the distance.

Things Augher drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Can I just take it for a long drive?
- It can, provided you spot it early and limp mode has not set in. Five minutes to the local shops and back will not manage it; motorway speed, sustained for some time, will.
- How long does the visit run?
- It is typically around 2 hours. A badly blocked filter can need a second clean, which adds to that.
- How much does it cost around Augher?
- It starts from £299, plus the call-out charge taking in the visit, the diagnostic and the advice. Both the vehicle and where you are move it, which is why quoting is done by phone.
- Do I have to be around?
- The vehicle needs a space for two hours or so. You do not need to be in it. The regeneration can be run as a supervised drive if you would rather come along.
- Coming to Augher — how soon?
- That comes down to the schedule, but it is often same-day or next-day. Call 0303 330 1830 and we will let you what is available across the BT area.
- The filter — does it come away from the vehicle?
- On the on-site service, no: the filter is treated in place. We do not lift filters off or bolt them back on, whichever way.
- What if the light reappears?
- An engineer comes back out to Augher — the 30-day warranty includes aftercare.
