Mobile DPF Cleaning for Auckengill, Highland
Cleaning the DPF takes place at the motor, not at a workshop. A fitter arrives at your door across Auckengill, clears the diesel particulate filter while it is attached to the car, runs a DPF regeneration, and you end up with the filter you arrived with.
Budget for the visit taking typically around 2 hours. The clean opens from £299, agreed over the phone before anyone sets off.
The light is already on and the vehicle is low on power — that is how we usually meet people, and what this page is about.
Your DPF light is on — what next?
Not the DPF, always. First thing to say. Several faults put the very same light on the same panel, which is why a visit begins with a scan rather than with treatment.
How the motor is run in the meantime counts too.
- Worth a go before you ring anything: amber light, motor driving as normal, just one steady run, no charge.
- A drive will not reach it now — limp mode means that window has already shut.
- A diesel smell in the car, or black smoke under the throttle, is the moment to stop arranging long drives and book it in.
What the car has been showing you
Symptoms have normally been building for some time before the light even appears. Late news, in other words:
- power falling off, above all pulling uphill
- you see the revs stop short of where they used to go
- fuel consumption getting worse
- stop/start silently bowing out
- a diesel smell in the interior, or smoke under hard acceleration
That is not evidence alone. It is a fair bet the filter is loaded once the light is showing too.
Why diesel particulate filters block around Auckengill
Auckengill is a coastal area, and the day-to-day driving that comes with one is the poorest type for a DPF. The school run to the local primary school, A99 at a standstill at half past eight, ten minutes to the local shops, the hop to Wick — none of it runs long enough or runs hot enough for the filter to see through a regeneration. Instead of burning away, the soot load collects.
The M90 sits over 50 miles from Auckengill, Inverness over 50 miles off, and unless something takes you out that way routinely, full weeks slip past without the long unbroken run that scours a filter. Geography does not help.
Why limp mode prevents a DPF regeneration
Limp mode is the car defending itself. A long drive works by starting a regeneration, and that is just what limp mode prevents: power held down, revs pinned, no regeneration possible.
So the standard advice to take it up the motorway is good advice, until the day it is not. The filter wants treatment rather than driving once the vehicle has slipped into limp mode.
Where the car stands is where the DPF is done round Auckengill
On your drive, in a work car park, any place the motor can stand for a while: the job is done with the filter still bolted on, which is the part most drivers do not see coming.
First a check. Live ECU data, the soot load as a percent and as a weight, the sensor feeds, the glow plugs, the associated hardware — all of it logged before anything is touched.
Then the cleaning. A cleaning fluid goes in through the access port on that car and opens out inside the filter, freeing the soot and ash a regeneration alone will never move. Sometimes a filter is clogged enough to need doing twice.
What the clean has loosened is then burned off by a regeneration. That is a monitored drive out of Auckengill if you are along, or a static regeneration where the car waits, with the live data read afterwards.
Then a second diagnostic, confirming the change, resetting the warning light and listing anything still logged. Both sets of figures are emailed over, so the before and after figures are kept.
When a DPF clean is not the answer
One thing is what a clean cures — a filter blocked with soot and ash. It does no good for:
- sensors, temperature or pressure, showing a restriction that is not real
- EGR valves that jam open
- the AdBlue system going wrong
- injectors or glow plugs that stop a regeneration starting at all
- oil passing through the filter from a worn turbo
The first diagnostic is there for precisely that. When it turns out to be one of those, you are told before any work gets going rather than after you have paid a penny.
DPF renewal is what people type in, but no part is exchanged: the filter you already own is cleaned where it sits and sent back into service. Nor is having it hollowed out a fix, since the MOT then fails and driving becomes an offence. Two more things worth bearing in mind.
Prices for DPF cleaning around Auckengill
Any visit carries a call-out charge — coming out to you, taking the booking, running the scan and offering the advice. The clean itself begins from £299.
Quoting a flat rate would not be truthful. We settle it over phone, once the vehicle and its probable needs are clear. Whereabouts you are tells as much as what you drive: Auckengill itself, Nybster close by, or farther out across the KW postcode area.
A clean that will not work is not treatment you pay for, and the diagnostic is what says so. The call-out charge nonetheless stands, because the visit, the diagnostic and the advice have happened.
The job carries a 30-day warranty including aftercare, including an engineer heading back out to Auckengill if the light reappears inside that period.
Outstanding customer service provided by Liam. The communication was exceptional, and I was consistently updated on all aspects, including the estimated time of arrival (ETA). Liam successfully resolved the PDF issue, and I am very satisfied with his work. I would highly recommend his services for PDF-related tasks.
Excellent service, completely unclogged my dpf & identified a nox sensor would need replacing. Car now working as new. Recommended.
Needed the van urgently for work, they came first thing the next day, ran a full test before and found it didn't need a clean but was the temp sensors that have failed, gave some good advise and left. Quick, pleasant and honest to deal with.

Questions Auckengill drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Will a long drive shift it?
- If you spot it early enough, and the vehicle is not in limp mode, sometimes. A long run at motorway speed is what it wants — not ten minutes or so to the local shops and back.
- Does the visit run long?
- Plan on typically around 2 hours — heavily clogged filters sometimes need a second pass, which extends it.
- What does it run to across Auckengill?
- Starting from £299, with a charge for coming out that takes in the diagnostic and advice on what to do next. We quote on the phone, because the vehicle and your address both move the number.
- Do I have to be there?
- The car wants a space for two hours or so. Nobody expects you to be in it. If you would prefer to come along, the regeneration can be carried out as a monitored drive instead.
- When can someone travel to Auckengill?
- It is often same-day or next-day, depending on what is now in the diary. Phone 0303 330 1830 what is free across the KW area.
- Does the filter come off the vehicle?
- On the mobile service, no: the filter is cleaned in place. Lifting a filter off or fitting one back on come to anything a job we do either way.
- Suppose the light comes back?
- Aftercare comes inside the 30-day warranty, and that includes an engineer coming back to Auckengill.
