Aston Subedge, Gloucestershire: Mobile DPF Cleaning
With mobile DPF cleaning, we drive out to the motor. Your vehicle will not be taken anywhere and the filter will not leave it. An engineer turns up at your door across Aston Subedge, clears the diesel particulate filter fitted to the car and performs a DPF regeneration.
You'll be given a figure by phone before anyone goes, the clean opening from £299, and the visit taking typically around 2 hours.
Most people find us with the light on already, and the vehicle down on power. That is the position this page is meant for.
What to try when the DPF light is on
Not the DPF, necessarily. Opening thing to get straight. A clean is not where a visit starts. A check is — several faults show up as the same warning.
It tells what you get with the car between now and the booking.
- A long constant run may yet be enough, provided the light is amber and the motor goes normally. Costs nothing at all, so try that before ringing.
- Motor already dropped into limp mode — that window has shut. A drive will not reach it now.
- Diesel smell in the interior, or black smoke under hard acceleration — stop planning long drives and get it seen to.
The car has been telling you already
Symptoms have usually been mounting for some time before the light even appears. Late news, in other words:
- power tailing off, above all going uphill
- the revs no longer pull the way they used to
- fuel consumption turning worse
- stop/start quietly packing in
- the cabin smelling of diesel, or smoke when you accelerate
Any one of those, taken by itself, is not evidence. The light with them points at a loaded filter.
Why diesel particulate filters block around Aston Subedge
For a DPF, the poorest motoring is the kind you get in a rural hamlet such as Aston Subedge. Look at a typical week: St Catharine's Catholic Primary School and back, Aston Road at a halt before nine, a five-minute run to Honeybourne Co-op, a dash to Honeybourne. Not much there goes on long enough or is hot enough to see through a regeneration. The soot that should clear banks up instead.
The M5 stands under 15 miles from Aston Subedge, Worcester under 25 miles away, and unless something takes you out that way regularly, whole weeks go by without the long steady run that scours a DPF. Geography does not help.
DPF regeneration, and the moment limp mode ends it
The vehicle is looking after itself, which is what limp mode is. A long drive works by triggering a regeneration, and that is exactly what limp mode prevents: power limited, revs held down, no regeneration on offer.
Sound advice, that motorway run — until the point it is not. In limp mode you are past that point: a clean is what will help, not more driving.
Call-out DPF cleaning where the motor stands round Aston Subedge
Most people do not see coming this bit: the filter stays on. The job takes place with the DPF even now fitted to the car — on your driveway, in a work car park, anywhere the vehicle can stand for a couple of hours.
The ECU is interrogated first, giving soot load by percentage and by mass, along with a check of sensors, glow plugs and related hardware, so nothing is cleaned while another fault is still in play.
Then the cleaning. A cleaning solution is fed in through the access point on that car and expands inside the filter, loosening the soot and ash a regeneration by itself will never shift. Where the filter is badly clogged, allow for a second pass.
A regeneration is next, clearing what the clean has lifted. Either it is done as a monitored drive out of Aston Subedge, with you there, or it runs where the motor sits and the live data is verified after.
Finally the check runs again — the change confirmed, the light put out, anything still showing logged. Both read-outs come to you by email, so the numbers are recorded.
Where treatment is not the fix
Only one fault is answered by treatment: the filter blocked with ash and soot. It does no good for:
- the wrong figure from a pressure or temperature sensor
- an EGR valve jammed open
- a problem in the AdBlue system
- worn glow plugs or injectors, so no regeneration ever runs
- a turbo pushing oil through the filter
The first diagnostic is there for just that. When it is found to be one of those, you are let know before any work begins rather than after you have settled up for it.
Two more worth bearing in mind. Having the filter cut out is not a remedy — a vehicle without a serviceable DPF cannot pass its MOT and driving it is against the law. And cleaning is sometimes searched for as DPF renewal: nothing is swapped, your existing filter is treated in place and returned into use.
What DPF cleaning costs across Aston Subedge
Each visit attracts a call-out charge — travelling to you, setting up the booking, running the scan and passing on the advice. The clean itself opens from £299.
Naming a flat rate would not be straight. We agree it by phone, once the motor and its likely needs are clear. What you own and where you are both shift it: Aston Subedge itself, over at Weston-sub-Edge, or otherwise out within the GL postcode area.
A clean that will not help is not treatment you pay for, and the scan is what says so. Because the visit, the scan and the advice have happened, the call-out charge nonetheless applies.
A 30-day warranty includes aftercare on the work, and that includes an engineer travelling back out to Aston Subedge if the light comes back inside the time.

Where we get to around Aston Subedge, and what we clean
Cars, vans and light commercials, HGVs, construction and plant machinery, farm vehicles — one mobile service across all of them, and on all of them the filter is done on the vehicle rather than moved anywhere.
Engineers are along Aston Road nearly every week, so Aston Subedge is rarely a special trip, and the same run picks up Weston-sub-Edge, Littleworth and the places out past Chipping Campden. It is the schedule, not the distance, that settles whether it is today or tomorrow, and coverage extends UK-wide — so ring anyway from even further out across Gloucestershire.

Things Aston Subedge drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Can I merely take it for a long drive?
- It may, provided you spot it early and limp mode has not begun. That requires motorway speed for a long spell, rather than a short trip to Honeybourne Co-op.
- How long does the visit take?
- That is typically around 2 hours, though a badly clogged filter can take cleaning twice, which takes longer.
- What does it cost around Aston Subedge?
- The call-out charge covers the visit, the scan and the advice; treatment itself opens from £299. Both the vehicle and where you are change it, which is why quoting happens by phone.
- Must I be there in person?
- Somewhere for the motor to sit, for a couple of hours, is all that is wanted. Not you. The regeneration can be done as a supervised drive if you would rather ride along.
- When can someone come to Aston Subedge?
- Depending on the calendar, often same-day or next-day is normal. Ring 0303 330 1830 and we will let you what is open across the GL area.
- Is the filter lifted off the vehicle?
- Not on the call-out service — it is cleaned where it stands. And neither does taking a filter off nor bolting one back on is work we do.
- And if the light reappears?
- The 30-day warranty takes in aftercare, including an engineer heading back to Aston Subedge.
