Mobile DPF Cleaning in Askett and Buckinghamshire
With mobile DPF cleaning, we come to the car. Your car is not taken anywhere and the filter doesn't come off. An engineer arrives at your address across Askett, cleans the diesel particulate filter still on the car and performs a DPF regeneration.
Reckon on the visit taking typically around 2 hours. The clean starts from £299, agreed over the phone before anyone travels.
The light is already on and the motor is short of power — that is how we normally find people, and roughly what this page covers.
What to try when the DPF light shows
The filter is not necessarily what is at fault, and that comes first. A check comes before all work, because that same panel light has plenty of likely faults behind it.
Second thing: how you run it between now and then matters.
- Worth a go before you book anything: amber light, motor driving as normal, just one steady run, no cost.
- That window has gone once the motor has dropped into limp mode. Motoring will not do it now.
- A diesel smell inside, or black smoke under hard acceleration, is the moment to stop booking long drives and book it in.
Signs the vehicle has been sending you
The light is late news. By the time it arrives, the symptoms have normally been building for some time:
- going uphill, the power falls off
- an engine whose revs will not climb as they should
- fuel consumption getting worse
- the stop/start without a word packing in
- the car reeking of diesel, or smoke when you press on
That is not evidence on its own. Next to the light alongside them, the filter is a fair guess.
Why diesel particulate filters block round Askett
For a DPF, the worst motoring is the sort you get in a rural village such as Askett. The school run to Monks Risborough CofE Primary School, Askett Lane at a crawl at half eight, a few minutes to Tesco, the hop to Monks Risborough — not one bit of it lasts long enough or gets hot enough for the filter to see through a regeneration. Soot that should clear collects instead.
Except when you have a regular need to drive out to the M40, under 10 miles from Askett, or across to Oxford under 25 miles away, entire weeks slip past without a long unbroken stint. Geography is unhelpful.
DPF regeneration, and the moment limp mode ends it
The vehicle is protecting itself, which is what limp mode is. A proper drive works by triggering a regeneration, and that is precisely what limp mode rules out: power capped, revs held down, no regeneration possible.
Running it up the motorway is the standard advice, and it works as far as a limit. The filter requires treatment rather than more driving once the motor has gone into limp mode.
DPF cleaning at the motor in Askett
The filter does not leave it. That is the part most people do not anticipate: the job happens with the DPF even now bolted to the vehicle, on your driveway, in a work car park, anywhere the car can sit for a few hours.
First a check. Live ECU data, the soot load as a percentage and as a figure, the sensor feeds, the glow plugs, the related components — all of it logged before a thing is started.
Then comes the clean itself: solution in through the car's own access point, opening out inside the filter and loosening what a regeneration cannot. Heavily clogged filters sometimes require a second pass.
Next, a regeneration burns off everything the clean lifted. Stay with the vehicle and it becomes a monitored drive out of Askett. Park it and the regeneration goes in place, with real-time data checked once it is done.
A second check confirms the change, puts out the warning light and notes anything still showing. Both sets of figures are sent over, so you keep the before and after figures on record.
Where a clean is not the solution
Cleaning cures one thing: a filter blocked with soot and ash. It does no good for:
- the wrong reading from a pressure or temperature sensor
- EGR valves that stick open
- a fault in the AdBlue system
- faulty glow plugs or injectors, so not one regeneration ever runs
- the turbo putting oil into the filter
That is what the first check is for. If one of those turns out to be the fault, you learn of it in advance rather than once the money has changed hands altogether.
DPF renewal is what people type in, but no part is exchanged: the filter you have is cleared where it sits and put back to work. Nor is having it cut out a remedy, since the MOT then fails and driving becomes unlawful. Two more things worth knowing.
Costs for DPF cleaning across Askett
Treatment starts from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it pays for the call-out, the booking, the checks and the advice.
Quoting a flat rate would not be straight. We fix it by phone, once the vehicle and its probable needs are known. Two separate things move it: what you own, and where you are — Askett itself, out at Monks Risborough, or further out in the HP postcode area.
A clean that will not do it is not cleaning you pay for, and the diagnostic is what says so. You nonetheless pay that charge: someone travelled, did the scan and offered you the advice.
A 30-day warranty covers aftercare on the work, and that includes an engineer heading back out to Askett if the light comes back inside the window.
Jim was in time, very professional and helpful answering my questions and in explaining the diagnostic information. He also could answer my questions about my model which has it's own issues. Very happy with him.
What fantastic service! Lady I spoke to in the office was friendly and very helpful and the technician (Zultan) who came out to look at my car couldn't be faulted. Friendly, helpful & professional - my problem resolved. Thank you.
Andras was very knowledgeable and professional in rectifying the problem with the DPF on my Range Rover Vouge Autobiography, which also involved replacing a throttle assembly.
What we clean, and how far we reach round Askett
The filter is done in place on all of them: private cars, vans of any size and light commercials, heavy goods vehicles, construction and plant machinery, farm vehicles. Nothing is taken anywhere.
Askett is seldom a special trip: technicians are out on Askett Lane week in week out, and the same run covers Monks Risborough, Smokey Row and the places out past Princes Risborough. Coverage is UK-wide, so further out across Buckinghamshire is even so worth a ring, and what picks between today and tomorrow is the diary rather than the distance.

Common questions on DPF cleaning around Askett
- Is a long drive enough on its own?
- Quickly enough, and with the vehicle out of limp mode, yes — sometimes. It needs a long run at motorway speed, not five minutes flat to Tesco and back.
- How long does the visit run?
- Reckon on typically around 2 hours, with a second clean lengthening that where the filter is severely loaded.
- Price around Askett — what is it?
- Opening from £299, with a charge for travelling that pays for the diagnostic and advice on what to do next. Pricing is done by phone, since what you run and where you sit both change the figure.
- Must I be present in person?
- Somewhere for the motor to stand, for a couple of hours, is all that is needed. Not you. If you would prefer to come along, the regeneration can be run as a supervised drive instead.
- When can someone travel to Askett?
- It is often same-day or next-day, depending on what is currently in the schedule. One ring to 0303 330 1830 and you will hear what the HP area has free.
- Does the filter come away from the car?
- On the call-out service, no: the filter is cleaned in place. Taking a filter off or bolting one back on come to anything work we do whichever way.
- The light returns — then what?
- The 30-day warranty covers aftercare, including an engineer returning to Askett.
