Mobile DPF Cleaning around Ash and Kent
With on-site DPF cleaning, we travel to the vehicle. Your vehicle isn't taken anywhere and the filter will not leave it. An engineer arrives at your door in Ash, treats the diesel particulate filter fitted to the car and carries out a DPF regeneration.
The visit takes typically around 2 hours, the clean begins from £299, and the number is agreed on the phone before anyone leaves.
The light is showing and the car is short of power — that is how we normally find people, and what this page covers.
Your DPF light is on — what now?
First thing: it is not necessarily the filter. That light can come from a number of faults, not just one, so the visit starts with a scan and not with cleaning.
The use you get in the meantime counts. That is the next thing.
- Motor yet driving as normal on an amber light — have a go at a long steady run first. It costs nothing and regularly shifts the filter without assistance.
- That window has shut once the vehicle has fallen into limp mode. A drive will not do it now.
- Get it checked rather than driving it — diesel in the cabin, or smoke on acceleration, has gone well past the long-run stage.
Before the light, what the car was telling you
The light is belated news. By the time it arrives, the symptoms have usually been mounting for some time:
- dropping away on power, particularly uphill
- an engine whose revs will not pull as before
- worse fuel economy
- a stop/start that has meekly bowed out
- smoke under hard acceleration, or a diesel smell inside
None of that is evidence on its own. Next to the light beside them, the filter is a fair guess.
The explanation diesel particulate filters choke near Ash
Ash is a rural village, and the driving that belongs to one is the poorest type for a DPF. A regeneration wants the time and heat, and has none: not on the school run to New Ash Green Primary School, not on Billet Hill at the morning rush, not on five minutes to Co-op Food, and not on the hop to Longfield. Unburnt soot that should burn off collects instead.
The map does not help either. The M20 is under a mile from Ash and London is under 25 miles away, so unless something pulls you out that way regularly, weeks pass without the long unbroken run that might empty the filter alone.
DPF regeneration, and the moment limp mode kills it
Limp mode is the motor defending itself. With power capped and the revs held, the regeneration the filter wants cannot run at all. That matters, because starting one is exactly what a motorway run does.
So the standard advice to get it up the motorway is sound advice, right until the day it is not. In limp mode you are the far side of that stage: a clean is what will do it, not more driving.
Where the motor stands is where the DPF is done round Ash
Nothing is taken from the vehicle. That throws people. The DPF remains bolted where it is and the work is done around it, on a forecourt, in a works car park, any place it can stand for a couple of hours.
The ECU is read first, giving soot load by percent and by actual weight, along with a check of sensors, glow plugs and related parts, so nothing is cleaned while another fault is still open.
Then comes the clean itself: solution in through the car's own entry point, spreading inside the filter and lifting what a regeneration cannot. A second pass is sometimes needed on heavily clogged filters.
Next, a regeneration drives off everything the clean freed. Ride along with the vehicle and it is done as a monitored drive out of Ash. Park it and the regeneration is done on the spot, with real-time data verified once it is done.
Then a second check, verifying the change, resetting the warning light and logging anything still outstanding. Both read-outs are emailed over, so the before and after figures are on record.
Where a clean is not the fix
A filter choked with soot and ash is the one thing cleaning answers. It will not reach:
- the wrong figure from a temperature sensor
- the EGR valve held open
- the AdBlue system going wrong
- glow plugs or injectors blocking the regeneration starting in the first place
- oil coming through the filter from a worn turbo
The first scan is there for just that. Transpiring to be one of them means finding out it before work begins, not after paying a penny.
Two things more worth bearing in mind. Leaving the filter gutted is not a solution — a vehicle without a working DPF cannot pass its MOT and driving it is illegal. And cleaning is sometimes looked up as DPF renewal: nothing is replaced, your own filter is treated in place and sent back into use.
DPF cleaning charges across Ash
The clean starts from £299. A call-out charge is added to every visit, and takes in the call-out itself, the booking, the scan and the advice that comes with it.
Once we have what you own, and roughly what the filter will need, the figure gets settled on the phone. A single price for all would not be truthful. Whereabouts you are tells as much as what you run: Ash itself, Fawkham Green next door, or further out in the TN postcode area.
A clean that will not do it is not a clean you pay for, and the scan is what says so. Because the visit, the scan and the advice have been done, the call-out charge nonetheless holds.
Aftercare is taken in by a 30-day warranty: should the light return within it, an engineer comes back to Ash.
Bas was very knowledgeable and explained everything that was happening. He was very thorough. I would be happy to recommend DPF fixer to anyone experiencing the issues I was, especially when the cost of a new filter runs into the thousands of pounds.
Came to my place of work which helped. Very courteous & friendly engineer. A bit pricey I thought for an hour and half work at £450, but I had to get it done.
Done with efficiency and professionalism. Will recommend. Peter was very friendly and easy to talk to. Very professional. Very happy customer.
Where we reach around Ash, and what we clean
Whatever it is — estate, light van, light commercial, heavy goods vehicle, plant, construction machinery, agricultural vehicle — the same on-site service stands, and the filter never leaves it.
The same round that has engineers on Billet Hill most weeks picks up Ash, Fawkham Green, Pettings and the spots beyond West Yoke. It is the diary, not the distance, that settles whether it is this day or the next, and coverage reaches UK-wide — so phone even from farther out around Kent.

What Ash drivers want to know about DPF cleaning
- Will a long drive clear it?
- It might, provided you catch it early and limp mode has not begun. That requires motorway speed for a sustained stretch, rather than a brief trip to Co-op Food.
- Does the visit take long?
- Reckon on typically around 2 hours, with a second clean extending that where the filter is heavily blocked.
- Cost in Ash — what is it?
- It starts from £299, plus the call-out charge paying for the visit, the scan and the advice. We settle it on the phone, because the vehicle and your address both shift the price.
- Do I have to be around?
- The motor wants a place for two hours or so. You need not be in it. Preferring to be there is fine: the regeneration then is done out on the road, monitored.
- When can someone travel to Ash?
- Depending on the calendar, often same-day or next-day is typical. Ring 0303 330 1830 and we will tell you what is free across the TN area.
- The filter — does it come away from the motor?
- It is treated where it sits, on the call-out service. Nor does lifting a filter off nor putting one back on is work we do.
- And if the light reappears?
- An engineer heads back out to Ash — the 30-day warranty covers aftercare.
