Mobile DPF Cleaning around Arne and Dorset
With mobile DPF cleaning, we come to the motor. The fitter turns up at your place in Arne and starts. The diesel particulate filter is treated fitted to the motor, a DPF regeneration comes next, and you end up with the filter you started with.
Allow for the visit taking typically around 2 hours. The clean starts from £299, settled by the phone before anyone travels.
The light is showing and the motor is short of power — that is how we usually come across people, and what this page is about.
What to check when the DPF light shows
It might not be the unit in the end. That is the first thing. A diagnostic comes before all cleaning, because that same dashboard light has plenty of possible faults behind it.
Second thing: how you drive it between now and then makes a difference.
- A long constant run may still do it, provided the light is amber and the vehicle goes normally. Costs nothing, so have a go at that before booking.
- A drive will not touch it now — limp mode means that window has now gone.
- Diesel smell in the interior, or black smoke under hard acceleration — stop planning long drives and get it seen to.
The car has been showing you already
The light is last news. By the time it shows, the symptoms have normally been growing for a while:
- tailing off on power, particularly uphill
- an engine whose revs will not pull as before
- fuel consumption going worse
- stop/start silently packing in
- diesel in the cabin, or smoke on the way up through the gears
Any one of those, taken singly, is not conclusive. It is a fair bet the filter is full once the light is on as well.
Why diesel particulate filters choke around Arne
For a DPF, the poorest use is the type you meet in a rural hamlet such as Arne. A regeneration wants the time and heat, and sees neither: not on the school run to Hamworthy Park Junior School, not on Arne Road at half past eight, not on five minutes to Co-op Food, and not on the hop to Holton Heath. Instead of burning off, the unburnt soot banks up.
The M27 stands under 25 miles from Arne, Salisbury under 50 miles out, and unless something takes you out that way often, full weeks slip past without the sustained run that clears a DPF. Geography does not oblige.
Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration stops
The car is looking after itself, which is what limp mode means. The entire catch is that a long drive works by starting a regeneration, and in limp mode the revs will not climb and power is limited.
So the standard advice to get it up the motorway is good advice, right until it is not. In limp mode you are beyond that line: cleaning is what will do it, not more road work.
Where the motor stands is where the DPF is cleaned across Arne
Most owners do not expect this part: the filter stays on. The job takes place with the DPF even now fitted to the car — on your driveway, in a work car park, wherever the motor can sit for a while.
The ECU is read first, showing soot load by percentage and by weight, along with a look over of sensors, glow plugs and connected parts, so nothing is touched while another fault is still possible.
A cleaning fluid after that is fed in through the access port on that motor, spreading inside the filter to lift soot and ash a regeneration on its own will never budge. Where the filter is badly loaded, expect a second pass.
What the clean has loosened is then burned off by a regeneration. Ride along with the car and it becomes a monitored drive out of Arne. Drop it and the regeneration is done in place, with live data checked once it is done.
Then a second diagnostic, verifying the change, resetting the warning light and noting anything still showing. Both sets of figures are emailed, so the before and after figures are recorded.
Where a clean is not the answer
A clean fixes one thing: a filter blocked with soot and ash. It does no good for:
- temperature or pressure sensors reporting a blockage that is not there
- the EGR valve jammed open
- an AdBlue system problem
- injectors or glow plugs that stop a regeneration running at all
- the turbo passing oil into the filter
Finding that out is the first check's purpose. Where one of those is the fault, you learn of it in advance rather than once the money has gone already.
Gutting the filter out is not a fix: without a serviceable DPF a vehicle cannot pass its MOT, and driving it is illegal. DPF renewal is the wording people look up, though nothing is exchanged — your original filter is cleared in place and put back into use. Two more worth knowing.
Figures for DPF cleaning across Arne
Any visit attracts a call-out charge — travelling to you, making the booking, carrying out the diagnostic and offering the advice. The clean itself begins from £299.
Once we have what you own, and roughly what the filter will need, the figure gets fixed over phone. A single price for every job would not be honest. What you run and where you are both change it: Arne itself, over at Lake, or further out in the BH postcode area.
Where the diagnostic says cleaning will not do it, you are not billed for cleaning. The call-out charge nonetheless applies, because the visit, the diagnostic and the advice have been done.
If the light returns inside that period, an engineer comes back out to Arne — the work comes with a 30-day warranty covering aftercare.
I would highly recommend, Balazs the technicians, was very polite and just got on with the job. The engine light has gone and dpf filter cleaned. All paper work of the results and test provided, Great job.
Your engineer Attila was a delight to meet, friendly and courteous. He explained every step and showed me all relevant information during the procedure. Highly recommended.
Keiran was friendly and professional, he fixed the problem and offered advice on how to avoid the issue in the future. We were very pleased with the work.
Where we reach round Arne, and what we clean
A single on-site service covers cars and estates, vans and light commercials, HGVs and lorries, plant and construction machinery and agricultural machinery, and on every one the filter is done where it sits rather than taken anywhere.
Week in week out there is by then someone on Arne Road, so Arne seldom means a special trip, and Lake, Ham Hill and the places past Ridge follow. Phone anyway from even further out through Dorset. Coverage runs UK-wide, and the slot you are offered depends on the diary rather than how far away you are.

Questions Arne drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Can I just take it for a long drive?
- Early enough, and with the vehicle out of limp mode, yes — sometimes. A sustained run at motorway speed is what it needs — not five minutes flat to Co-op Food and back.
- Roughly how long does it take?
- Allow typically around 2 hours — heavily clogged filters sometimes need a second pass, which lengthens it.
- How much does it cost across Arne?
- Beginning from £299, with a charge for coming out that covers the check and advice on what to do next. The vehicle and your address both change the number, so we price on the phone.
- Must I be around in person?
- No. The vehicle needs space to stand for a couple of hours; you do not need to stand with it. Choosing to be there is no problem: the regeneration then runs out on the move, monitored.
- Can someone come to Arne soon?
- Depending on the diary, often same-day or next-day is usual. One ring to 0303 330 1830 and you will know what the BH area has available.
- Does the filter come off the vehicle?
- It is cleaned where it sits, on the on-site service. And neither does taking a filter off nor putting one back on is work we do.
- The light comes back — then what?
- The 30-day warranty takes in aftercare, including an engineer coming back to Arne.
