Mobile DPF Cleaning across Ardroag and Highland

Call-out DPF cleaning travels to the vehicle. No workshop, no filter going anywhere. A fitter travels to your address across Ardroag, cleans the diesel particulate filter as it sits, performs a DPF regeneration, and you end up with the filter you started with.

Nobody sets off until the figure is settled on the phone. The visit lasts typically around 2 hours and the clean starts from £299.

The light is on already and the car is low on power — that is how we usually come across people, and roughly what this page covers.

The DPF light is on. What next?

It could not be the filter in the end. That is the opening thing. That light can come from a number of faults, not merely one, so the visit begins with a check and not with treatment.

How the vehicle is driven in the meantime matters too.

  • Motor still driving as normal on an amber light — try a long constant run first. It costs nothing at all and regularly sorts the filter without a visit.
  • A drive will not touch it now — limp mode means that window has now shut.
  • Stop booking long drives and get it looked at if the cabin reeks of diesel or there is black smoke when you press on.

Signs the vehicle has been giving you

By the time the light arrives, things have generally been slipping for a while. It is late news:

  • power dropping away, particularly pulling uphill
  • an engine whose revs will not climb as before
  • fuel use that is worse than it used to be
  • stop/start quietly packing in
  • the cabin smelling of diesel, or smoke when you press on

On its own, none of that is evidence. The light with them points at a loaded filter.

What chokes diesel particulate filters near Ardroag

Ardroag is a coastal area, and the driving that belongs to one is the poorest kind for a DPF. None of it goes on long enough or is hot enough for the filter to finish a regeneration: the school run to the local primary school, Ardroag Road barely moving at half eight, five minutes to the local shops, the hop to the nearest station. Unburnt soot that should clear builds up instead.

Neither is distant from Ardroag: over 50 miles to the M8, over 50 miles to Inverness. Neither is on the way to anything most weeks, though, so the run that would empty a filter never comes.

The moment a DPF regeneration can no longer complete

The motor is protecting itself, which is what limp mode is. A long drive works by triggering a regeneration, and that is just what limp mode prevents: power capped, revs held down, no regeneration possible.

Taking it up the motorway is the common advice, and it works up to a point. In limp mode you are the far side of that line: a clean is what will help, not more driving.

DPF cleaning for a clogged filter in Ardroag, Highland

The vehicle stays where it is for call-out DPF cleaning across Ardroag

Nothing leaves the vehicle. That catches out people. The DPF remains fixed where it is and the work goes on around it, on a driveway, in a works car park, anywhere it can stand for two hours or so.

The ECU is read first, giving soot load by proportion and by mass, along with a review of sensor feeds, glow plugs and associated components, so nothing is touched while another fault is still possible.

A solution next is injected through the entry point on that car, spreading inside the filter to free soot and ash a regeneration by itself will never shift. A second pass is sometimes required on heavily blocked filters.

Next, a regeneration drives off everything the clean freed. That is a monitored drive out of Ardroag if you are along, or a static regeneration where the car sits, with the running data read afterwards.

A second diagnostic confirms the change, resets the warning light and notes anything still open. Both sets of figures are emailed over, so you end up with the before and after figures recorded.

The failures a DPF clean cannot fix

Only one fault is fixed by cleaning: the filter clogged with ash and soot. It does no good for:

  • sensors, pressure, showing a block that is not real
  • EGR valves that stick open
  • a fault in the AdBlue system
  • faulty glow plugs or injectors, so not one regeneration ever completes
  • the turbo pushing oil into the filter

The first scan is there for precisely that. You are warned before all work starts, not after you have handed over, if it turns out to be one of those.

A couple more worth bearing in mind. Leaving the filter hollowed out is not a remedy — a vehicle without a serviceable DPF will fail its MOT and driving it is illegal. And cleaning is sometimes searched for as DPF renewal: nothing is replaced, your own filter is treated in place and returned into use.

The figure for DPF cleaning in Ardroag

A call-out charge holds whatever follows, and covers the visit, the booking fee, the check and the advice passed on. Treatment itself begins from £299.

No single flat rate would be truthful, so the figure is settled over the phone once we are told the vehicle and what the filter is going to need. Where you are matters as much as what you run: Ardroag itself, Greep next door, or farther out within the IV postcode area.

Cleaning that will not work is not a clean you pay for, and the scan is what says so. The call-out charge even so stands, because the visit, the scan and the advice have happened.

Aftercare is included by a 30-day warranty: should the light reappear within it, an engineer returns to Ardroag.

Vehicles we clean, and where we travel around Ardroag

Cars, vans of any size and light commercials, HGVs, construction and plant machinery, agricultural vehicles — the one mobile service across all of them, and on all of them the filter is done in place rather than taken anywhere.

Nearly every week there is already someone on Ardroag Road, so Ardroag rarely means a journey of its own, and Greep, Heribost and the places past Lonmore come with it. It is the calendar, not the distance, that decides whether it is one day or the next, and coverage reaches UK-wide — so ring anyway from even further out through Highland.

Things Ardroag drivers ask about DPF cleaning

Does a long run sort it?
If you catch it in time, and the motor is not in limp mode, sometimes. It takes a sustained run at motorway speed, not ten minutes or so to the local shops and back.
Does the visit last long?
It is typically around 2 hours. A badly loaded filter can take a second clean, which extends that.
How much does it run to around Ardroag?
Beginning from £299, with a charge for the call-out that takes in the check and advice on what to do next. The vehicle and your address both change the figure, so we price on the phone.
Must I be around in person?
A spot for the motor to sit, for a couple of hours, is all that is wanted. Not you. Preferring to be there is welcome: the regeneration then is done out on the open road, monitored.
When can someone get to Ardroag?
Depending on the calendar, often same-day or next-day is typical. Ask 0303 330 1830 what is open across the IV area.
Will the filter be lifted off?
Treated where it is, on this service, so no. That job — a filter off, a filter back on — is not work we do.
Suppose the light returns?
Included by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer heading back to Ardroag.
