Ansty Cross, Dorset: Mobile DPF Cleaning
Call-out DPF cleaning comes to the vehicle. The fitter arrives at your place in Ansty Cross and starts. The diesel particulate filter is cleaned fitted to the car, a DPF regeneration follows, and you keep the filter you started with.
The visit runs typically around 2 hours, the clean starts from £299, and the figure is agreed over the phone before anyone sets off.
If the light is showing and the vehicle is down on power, this page is yours. That is how most owners get to us.
DPF light on? What happens next
It might not be the unit at all. That is the first thing. That light can follow a number of faults, not only one, so the visit begins with a scan and not with treatment.
The use you do in the meantime matters. That is the second thing.
- Car still driving normally on an amber light — have a go at a long even run first. It costs nothing and frequently clears the filter without a visit.
- Vehicle already gone into limp mode — that window has shut. A drive will not shift it now.
- Diesel smell in the interior, or black smoke under acceleration — stop arranging long drives and get it seen to.
Signs the car has been showing you
Late news, the light. The symptoms usually mount for some time before it appears:
- less power, above all climbing uphill
- an engine whose revs will not pull like they did
- fuel use that is worse than before
- the stop/start without a word packing in
- a diesel smell in the cabin, or smoke under the throttle
That is not evidence alone. With the light, it is a fair assumption the filter is loaded.
Why diesel particulate filters clog around Ansty Cross
Ansty Cross is a rural hamlet, and the motoring that comes with one is the worst sort for a DPF. The school run to Cheselbourne Village School, Cuckoo Lane at a standstill at half past eight, a few minutes to Shillingstone Co-op, the run to Moreton (Dorset) — none of it runs long enough or is hot enough for the filter to finish a regeneration. Instead of clearing, the soot load builds up.
The map does not assist either. The M27 is under 50 miles from Ansty Cross and Salisbury is under 50 miles away, so unless something carries you out that way regularly, whole weeks go by without the sustained run that would scour the filter by itself.
Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration stops
The vehicle is protecting itself, which is what limp mode amounts to. Output is held down, the revs will not climb, and the regeneration the filter wants can not run — which is the entire catch, because a long drive works by setting off that regeneration.
Taking it up the motorway is the usual advice, and it works as far as a point. Once the vehicle is in limp mode you are beyond that line, and the filter wants treatment rather than more driving.
DPF cleaning at the motor round Ansty Cross
Most owners do not expect this bit: the filter stays on. The job takes place with the DPF yet fitted to the car — on your front, in a work car park, anywhere the vehicle can sit for a few hours.
First a scan. Live ECU data, the soot load as a percent and as a figure, the sensor feeds, the glow plugs, the related hardware — all of it taken before any of it is touched.
Then the clean. A solution goes in through the access port on that car and opens out inside the filter, lifting the soot and ash a regeneration alone will never shift. Sometimes a filter is clogged enough to take doing twice.
Next, a regeneration clears everything the clean lifted. That is a monitored drive out of Ansty Cross if you are along, or a static regeneration where the motor sits, with the running data verified afterwards.
A second diagnostic confirms the change, clears the warning light and logs anything still open. Both reports are sent over, so you have the before and after figures to hand.
The problems a DPF clean cannot cure
Only one fault is cured by cleaning: the filter choked with ash and soot. It does little for:
- the wrong reading from a temperature sensor
- a stuck-open EGR valve
- a problem in the AdBlue system
- injectors or glow plugs that prevent a regeneration starting in the first place
- the turbo pushing oil into the filter
That is what the first diagnostic is for. You are let know before all work gets going, not after you have paid, where it turns out to be one of those.
Two things more worth bearing in mind. Leaving the filter gutted is not a remedy — a vehicle without a functioning DPF cannot pass its MOT and driving it is against the law. And cleaning is sometimes looked up as DPF renewal: nothing is replaced, your existing filter is treated in place and sent back into use.
DPF cleaning charges in Ansty Cross
A call-out charge stands whatever follows, and takes in the visit, the booking fee, the diagnostic and the advice given. Treatment itself opens from £299.
Once we are told what you drive, and broadly what the filter will want, the price gets fixed over phone. A single price for every job would not be honest. Whereabouts you are counts as much as what you drive: Ansty Cross itself, Higher Ansty nearby, or farther out across the DT postcode area.
Where the check says treatment will not do it, you are not asked to pay for treatment. You still pay that charge: someone came out, carried out the diagnostic and passed on you the advice.
The work carries a 30-day warranty including aftercare, including an engineer coming back out to Ansty Cross if the light comes back inside that time.
I would like to thank dpf for a good and prompt service. Especially igor who came across very professional and polite while doing the job. He also checked everything before he left to see if there were any other issues. We'll done igor highly recommended.

What we clean, and how far we travel around Ansty Cross
Whatever it is — private car, panel van, light commercial, heavy goods vehicle, plant, construction machinery, agricultural vehicle — the same mobile service applies, and the filter never leaves it.
Engineers are along Cuckoo Lane most weeks, so Ansty Cross is rarely a journey of its own, and the same run picks up Higher Ansty, Little Ansty and the spots out past Ansty. Coverage reaches UK-wide, so farther out around Dorset is nonetheless worth a ring, and what picks between today and tomorrow is the diary rather than the distance.

What Ansty Cross drivers wonder about DPF cleaning
- Is a long drive enough alone?
- Sometimes, if you get it early enough and the car has not fallen into limp mode. Five minutes to Shillingstone Co-op and back will not do it; motorway speed, kept for a while, will.
- Does the visit take long?
- Reckon on typically around 2 hours, with a second clean extending that where the filter is heavily loaded.
- Cost in Ansty Cross — what is it?
- Starting from £299, with a charge for travelling that takes in the diagnostic and advice on what to do next. Both the vehicle and where you are shift it, which is why settling it is done by phone.
- Do I have to be there?
- No. The vehicle needs a spot to sit for a couple of hours; nobody expects you to stand with it. Wanting to be there is fine: the regeneration then runs out on the road, monitored.
- Can someone come to Ansty Cross soon?
- You are looking at often same-day or next-day, though it depends what is currently in the schedule. Ring 0303 330 1830 what is open across the DT area.
- Does the filter come off the vehicle?
- On the call-out service, no: the filter is done in place. Nor does lifting a filter off nor putting one back on is work we do.
- The light returns — then what?
- Aftercare sits inside the 30-day warranty, and that includes an engineer returning to Ansty Cross.
