Before the light, what the motor was showing you
Belated news, the light. The symptoms generally build for a while before it shows:
- climbing uphill, the power drops away
- the revs no longer rise the way they once did
- fuel use turning worse
- stop/start without a word packing in
- smoke under the throttle, or a diesel smell inside
That is not evidence by itself. Next to the light, it is a fair assumption the filter is loaded.
