Mobile DPF Cleaning around Acol and Kent
With mobile DPF cleaning, we drive out to the motor. The fitter turns up at your place over in Acol and gets to work. The diesel particulate filter is treated on the car, a DPF regeneration runs after it, and you hold on to the filter you came with.
Reckon on the visit taking typically around 2 hours. The clean opens from £299, agreed over the phone before anyone sets off.
Most owners find us with the light on already, and the motor low on power. That is the situation this page is written for.
What to try when the DPF light comes on
The DPF is not always what is at fault, and that comes first. Plenty of faults put the identical light on the same dashboard, which is why a visit begins with a check rather than with treatment.
How the vehicle is handled in the meantime matters too.
- Worth a go before you ring anything: amber light, car driving normally, just one even run, no outlay.
- Once the car is in limp mode, driving will not shift it. The window has gone.
- Get it looked at rather than using it — diesel in the car, or smoke on hard acceleration, has gone well past the long-run stage.
What the vehicle has been telling you
Belated news, the light. The symptoms generally mount for some time before it arrives:
- power tailing off, especially climbing uphill
- the revs no longer climb the way they once did
- the fuel consumption is poorer
- a stop/start that has quietly given up
- smoke under acceleration, or a diesel smell in there
None of that is conclusive on its own. The light alongside them points at a loaded filter.
Blocked diesel particulate filters near Acol, and the cause
For a DPF, the worst driving is the sort you find across a coastal village such as Acol. Nothing of it runs long enough or gets hot enough for the filter to finish a regeneration: the school run to Birchington Church of England Primary School, Dilnot Lane crawling at half past eight, a few minutes to Pha-Chen-Roen Thai Supermarket (Formerly Dress Circle), the dash to Birchington-On-Sea. The soot that should burn away banks up instead.
Except when you have a regular reason to drive out to the M2, under 25 miles from Acol, or across to Canterbury under 15 miles away, entire weeks slip past without a sustained stint. Geography is unhelpful.
Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration stops working
It is self-defence: that is all limp mode is. With output capped and the revs pinned, the regeneration the filter requires cannot complete at all. That tells, because triggering one is exactly what a motorway run does.
Getting it up the motorway is the usual advice, and it holds up to a line. Beyond that point — limp mode — road work will not manage it, and the filter requires a clean.
Where the motor stands is where the DPF is cleaned in Acol
The filter does not leave it. That is the part most owners do not anticipate: the job takes place with the DPF still fixed to the car, on your front, in a work car park, anywhere the vehicle can sit for a while.
The ECU is interrogated first, giving soot load by percentage and by mass, along with a look over of sensors, glow plugs and associated components, so nothing is started while another fault is still open.
Soot and ash that a regeneration on its own will never shift are lifted after that, by a cleaning fluid passed through the entry point on that vehicle, which expands inside the filter. Sometimes a filter is blocked enough to take doing twice.
A regeneration follows, driving off what the clean has lifted. If you are there, that is run as a monitored drive out of Acol; if not, on the spot where the vehicle sits, with the real-time data read once done.
Both sets of figures come through by email, so the figures from either end are recorded. The second diagnostic is what proves the change, clears the light and notes whatever is still outstanding.
When a DPF clean is not the fix
A filter blocked with soot and ash is the one thing treatment fixes. It will not touch:
- sensors, temperature or pressure, showing a restriction that is not real
- a jammed EGR valve
- a problem in the AdBlue system
- injectors or glow plugs that prevent a regeneration completing at all
- a turbo putting oil through the filter
That is what the first scan is for. When one of those proves the fault, you find out about it in advance rather than once the money has changed hands for good.
Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter cut out fails its MOT, and driving it is illegal, so that is no remedy. What gets looked up as DPF renewal replaces nothing: your own filter is cleared in place and goes back into use.
The price for DPF cleaning across Acol
The cleaning opens from £299. A call-out charge applies to every visit, and covers the call-out itself, the booking, the diagnostic and the advice that follows.
Once we are told what you run, and about what the filter will need, the figure gets agreed by phone. A single price for all would not be straight. A pair of things shift it: what you own, and where you are — Acol itself, out at Mount Pleasant, or further out within the CT postcode area.
Where the diagnostic says cleaning will not do it, you are not asked to pay for cleaning. Because the visit, the diagnostic and the advice have taken place, the call-out charge still applies.
Aftercare is covered by a 30-day warranty: should the light come back within it, an engineer heads back to Acol.
Really pleased with the service which cleared the DPF block and warning light on dash of my Landrover. Saved me £2500!
Had a lad called daz come out to blocked dpf on a fiat 500 diagnostic check and clean explained from start to finish the faults excellent job and showed what caused the problem and what I need to replace to stop future problems.
Professional, friendly and fast service. Daz done really good job. My car is now running smoothly and all power back with DPF cleaned and all faults erased. Thank you!
Vehicles we clean, and where we reach round Acol
The one call-out service takes in cars and estates, panel vans and light commercials, HGVs and lorries, plant machinery and agricultural vehicles, and on every one the filter is treated in place rather than moved anywhere.
Engineers are along Dilnot Lane most weeks, so Acol is hardly ever a special trip, and the same run covers Mount Pleasant, Birchington and the villages out past Minster. Ring anyway from even further out around Kent. Coverage reaches UK-wide, and the day you are offered hangs on the diary rather than how far away you are.
Acol itself
Acol is a small village on the coast of Kent, situated near the larger villages of Birchington and Brooks End. Acol has a population of around 315 people and is characterised by semi-detached housing. Acol sits at an elevation of 25 metres, close to the coast and approximately 11 miles from Canterbury. Acol is also within commuting distance of London, being around 63 miles from the capital.
What Acol drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Is a long drive enough on its own?
- Sometimes, if you spot it early enough and the vehicle has not fallen into limp mode. A sustained run at motorway speed is what it wants — not fifteen minutes or so to Pha-Chen-Roen Thai Supermarket (Formerly Dress Circle) and back.
- The visit runs how long?
- Reckon on typically around 2 hours, with a second clean adding to that where the filter is badly loaded.
- The cost across Acol — what is it?
- It opens from £299, plus the call-out charge covering the visit, the diagnostic and the advice. The vehicle and your address both change the price, so we price on the phone.
- Do I have to be around?
- The vehicle needs a spot for two hours or so. You do not need to be in it. The regeneration can be done as a watched drive if you would sooner ride along.
- When can someone get to Acol?
- You are looking at often same-day or next-day, though it depends what is now in the calendar. One ring to 0303 330 1830 and you will know what the CT area has free.
- Will the filter be removed?
- It is treated where it stands, on the call-out service. We do not get filters off or put them back on, either way.
- The light returns — then what?
- The 30-day warranty includes aftercare, including an engineer heading back to Acol.
