What the motor has been telling you
Last news, the light. The symptoms generally grow for some time before it appears:
- climbing uphill, the power tails off
- an engine whose revs will not pull like they did
- fuel consumption getting worse
- without a word, the stop/start bows out
- diesel in the interior, or smoke on the way up through the gearbox
On its own, none of that is evidence. It is a fair guess the filter is full once the light is on as well.
