- A drive will not shift it now — limp mode means that window has already gone.
- Get it looked at rather than running it — diesel in the cabin, or smoke on hard acceleration, has gone well past the long-run stage.
Before the light, what the motor was showing you
Belated news, the light. The symptoms generally grow for some time before it arrives:
- climbing uphill, the power falls off
- you notice the revs fall short of where they used to go
- worse fuel economy
- stop/start quietly bowing out
- smoke under hard acceleration, or a diesel smell inside
That is not conclusive on its own. It is a fair bet the filter is blocked once the light is showing too.
Choked diesel particulate filters near Aber, and the cause
For a DPF, the poorest driving is the kind you meet in a rural hamlet such as Aber.
