The engineer arrives: what happens next

Before anything is treated, the scan goes first.

Ruling out a sensor, glow plug, injector or turbo fault comes first. A DPF warning light is not proof that the filter is the fault, and one of those faults is commonly present with it.

Before any work starts, you are warned if one of those is the cause.

• diagnostics first — a complete scan plus a live ECU read, setting out what the fault is and how full the filter is
• a chemical clean under pressure, put in at the easiest access point that vehicle offers
• a burn-off of what the clean loosened, run on a regeneration cycle
• one quick road test where conditions allow, after a second scan and a warning lights reset
• pre- and post-clean reports emailed to you afterwards

On the same visit, a heavily blocked filter that needs a second clean receives one.
