On arrival, what the engineer does

Nothing is cleaned until the scan is finished.

A turbo, injector, glow plug or sensor fault commonly sits alongside a blocked filter, and it has to be ruled out first. A DPF warning light on its own proves nothing about where the fault lies.

Where one of those is the cause, you are informed before any work starts.

• a live read of the ECU together with a full diagnostic scan, pinning down the fault and how full the filter is
• chemical cleaner, pressurised and introduced through the best access point on that vehicle
• a burn-off of what the clean loosened, run on a regeneration cycle
• the lights zeroed once the scan is repeated, plus a road test where possible
• pre- and post-clean reports emailed to you afterwards

A heavily blocked filter sometimes takes cleaning twice, carried out there and then.
