# West End, Wiltshire: Mobile DPF Cleaning

The car stays in place — on-site DPF cleaning goes to it.

The fitter pulls up at your place over in West End and sets up. The diesel particulate filter is treated still on the vehicle, a DPF regeneration comes next, and you end up with the filter you started with.

Reckon on the visit running typically around 2 hours. The clean starts from £299, settled on the phone before anyone sets off.

Most drivers find us with the light showing, and the car low on power. That is the position this page is written for.

## What to do when the DPF light comes on

First thing: it is not automatically the DPF.

That light can follow several faults, not just one, so the visit opens with a scan and not with treatment.

How the car is run in the meantime makes a difference too.

- Worth a try before you ring anything: amber light, car driving fine, just one constant run, no cost.

- Once the car is in limp mode, motoring will not shift it. The window has closed.

- Get it checked rather than using it — diesel in the cabin, or smoke on acceleration, has gone past the long-run stage.

## Before the light, what the vehicle was telling you

The light is late news. By the time it appears, the symptoms have normally been growing for some time:

- less power, particularly climbing uphill

- the revs no longer pull the way they used to

- worse fuel use

- stop/start without a word bowing out

- the interior smelling of diesel, or smoke when you pull away

Alone, none of that is proof.

The light beside them indicates a full filter.

## Clogged diesel particulate filters around West End, and the why

For a DPF, the poorest use is the sort you meet in a rural hamlet such as West End.

Look at an ordinary week: Ludwell Primary School and home again, West End Lane at a standstill before the hour, a five-minute run to Lidl, a dash to Tisbury. Not much there lasts long enough or is hot enough to see through a regeneration.

Instead of burning away, the unburnt soot banks up.

Geography does not help either. The M27 is under 25 miles from West End and Salisbury is under 15 miles away, so unless something pulls you out that way regularly, weeks pass without the sustained run that could scour the filter alone.

## Why limp mode stops a DPF regeneration

The vehicle is looking after itself, which is what limp mode is.

Pulling power is limited, the revs will not rise, and the regeneration the filter requires can no longer run — which is the entire catch, because a proper drive works by triggering that regeneration.

Getting it up the motorway is the usual advice, and it holds as far as a point.

In limp mode you are past that point: treatment is what will help, not more driving.

## Where the vehicle stands is where the DPF is cleaned round West End

Most people do not expect this part: the filter stays on. The job is done with the DPF yet fitted to the car — on your drive, in a work car park, wherever the vehicle can stand for a few hours.

First a scan. Live ECU data, the soot load as a percent and as a mass, the sensors, the glow plugs, the connected parts — all of it logged before any of it is started.

Then comes the clean itself: solution in through the vehicle's own access point, expanding inside the filter and loosening what a regeneration will not.

Sometimes a filter is clogged enough to require doing twice.

Next, a regeneration clears everything the clean lifted.

That is a monitored drive out of West End if you are along, or a static regeneration where the vehicle stands, with the running data checked afterwards.

Then a second scan, confirming the change, clearing the warning light and listing anything still showing. Both read-outs are emailed, so the before and after figures are on record.

## When a DPF clean is not the solution

One thing is what cleaning fixes — a filter choked with soot and ash. It does no good for:

- sensors, pressure or temperature, showing a blockage that is not real

- the EGR valve stuck open

- AdBlue system problems

- glow plugs or injectors stopping the regeneration completing at all

- oil coming through the filter from a faulty turbo

Which is why the check happens first.

You are let know before the work starts, not after you have handed over, if it turns out to be one of those.

DPF renewal is what people type in, but no part is exchanged: the filter you own is treated where it sits and returned to use. Nor is having it hollowed out a remedy, since the MOT then fails and driving becomes unlawful. Two more things worth bearing in mind.

## What DPF cleaning costs around West End

Treatment begins from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it takes in the call-out, the booking, the scans and the advice.

Once we have what you drive, and broadly what the filter will need, the price gets settled on the phone. A single price for everyone would not be truthful.

The motor shifts it, and so does the address — West End, Donhead St Mary, or a spot otherwise out in the SP postcode area.

If the scan counts cleaning out, there is no charge to pay for it.

The call-out charge still holds, because the visit, the check and the advice have happened.

A 30-day warranty covers aftercare on the job, and that includes an engineer heading back out to West End if the light reappears inside the window.

## Vehicles we clean, and where we get to round West End

The one on-site service takes in private cars, vans and light commercials, HGVs, plant and construction machinery and agricultural vehicles, and on every one the filter is cleaned where it sits rather than taken anywhere.

Week in week out there is by then someone on West End Lane, so West End rarely means a special trip, and Donhead St Mary, Lillies Green and the spots past Donhead St Andrew follow.

Call anyway from farther out across Wiltshire. Coverage runs UK-wide, and the day you are offered depends on the schedule rather than how far away you are.

## A note on West End

West End is a small hamlet in Wiltshire, situated on the riverside at an elevation of 133 metres, with detached housing being the predominant type of accommodation. West End lies near the villages of Milkwell, Brook Waters, and Donhead St Mary, and is approximately 14.7 miles from the city of Salisbury. West End is a rural community with a population of around 154 people, set in the scenic countryside of southern England. West End is also relatively close to the regional centre, but still some distance from London, at 92.8 miles away.

## Things West End drivers ask about DPF cleaning

Is a long drive enough alone?

If you spot it early enough, and the motor is not in limp mode, sometimes.

Five minutes to Lidl and back will not be enough; motorway speed, sustained for a stretch, will.

Does the visit run long?

Bank on typically around 2 hours, with a second clean adding to that where the filter is severely blocked.

How much does it run to around West End?

Starting from £299, with a charge for coming out that covers the scan and advice on what to do next.

Both the vehicle and where you are change it, which is why settling it goes by phone.

Do I have to be around?

No. The car requires space to stand for a couple of hours; you do not need to stand with it.

Travel along if you would rather, and the regeneration turns into a monitored drive.

Can someone get to West End soon?

That depends on the schedule, but it is often same-day or next-day.

One phone call to 0303 330 1830 and you will know what the SP area has free.

Is the filter removed from the car?

Done where it sits, on this service, so no.

That work — a filter off, a filter back on — is not something we do.

Suppose the light comes back?

The 30-day warranty includes aftercare, including an engineer returning to West End.
