# Mobile DPF Cleaning for Truas, Cornwall

Treating the DPF is done at the vehicle, not at a body shop.

The engineer turns up at your place across Truas and gets to work. The diesel particulate filter is cleaned on the car, a DPF regeneration comes next, and you hold on to the filter you came with.

The visit runs typically around 2 hours, the clean opens from £299, and the price is agreed by the phone before anyone sets off.

Most drivers find us with the light already on, and the vehicle down on power. That is exactly what this page is written for.

## What to check when the DPF light shows

First thing: it is not necessarily the unit.

That light can arise from a number of faults, not only one, so the visit opens with a check and not with cleaning.

Second thing: how you drive it between now and then makes a difference.

- Worth a shot before you book anything: amber light, vehicle driving fine, just one even run, no charge.

- Car already gone into limp mode — that window has gone. A drive will not shift it now.

- A diesel smell inside, or black smoke under hard acceleration, is the moment to stop planning long drives and book it in.

## The motor has been warning you already

By the time the light shows, things have usually been deteriorating for some time. It is belated news:

- going uphill, the power drops away

- the revs no longer pull the way they once did

- consumption that is worse than it used to be

- stop/start without a word packing in

- smoke under acceleration, or a diesel smell in there

Any one of those, taken singly, is not evidence.

With the light beside them, the filter is a fair guess.

## What blocks diesel particulate filters round Truas

Being a coastal area, Truas produces exactly the driving a DPF manages least well.

Run through a normal week: Tintagel Primary School and home again, Trenale Lane at a crawl before half nine, a quick trip to Spar, a run to the nearest station. None of it there lasts long enough or gets hot enough to finish a regeneration.

The soot load builds up rather than burning off.

The M5 lies over 50 miles from Truas, Truro under 50 miles out, and unless something takes you out that way regularly, full weeks slip past without the long unbroken run that scours a filter. Geography does not help.

## DPF regeneration, and the moment limp mode kills it

It is self-protection: that is all limp mode is.

With output held down and the revs held, the regeneration the filter requires cannot run at all. That counts, because starting one is precisely what a motorway run does.

So the usual advice to take it up the motorway is sensible advice, until it stops being.

In limp mode you are the far side of that stage: treatment is what will help, not more miles.

## Where the vehicle stands is where the DPF is treated round Truas

Most drivers do not see coming this bit: the filter remains. The job is done with the DPF yet bolted to the vehicle — on your driveway, in a work car park, anywhere the car can wait for a while.

Nothing is cleaned until other faults are ruled out. That means a diagnostic first: live data off the ECU, soot load by percentage and by mass, and a review of the sensor feeds, glow plugs and associated hardware.

Soot and ash that a regeneration on its own will never move are lifted after that, by a cleaning fluid passed through the entry point on that vehicle, which expands inside the filter.

A second pass is sometimes called for on badly loaded filters.

What the clean has lifted is then cleared by a regeneration.

Come with the motor and it becomes a monitored drive out of Truas. Park it and the regeneration goes statically, with live data checked once it is done.

Both reports are sent by email, so the figures from either end are kept. The second scan is what confirms the change, puts out the light and lists whatever is still showing.

## What a DPF clean will not cure

A filter choked with soot and ash is the one thing cleaning answers. It will not help:

- sensors, pressure or temperature, reporting a block that is not real

- an EGR valve jammed open

- the AdBlue system going wrong

- faulty glow plugs or injectors, so never a regeneration ever completes

- oil working through the filter from a worn turbo

Which is why the diagnostic comes first.

You are told before all work gets going, not after you have settled up, should it turns out to be one of those.

Gutting the filter out is not a fix: without a functioning DPF a vehicle fails its MOT, and driving it is illegal. DPF renewal is the wording people search for, though nothing is replaced — your existing filter is cleaned in place and put back into use. Two more worth knowing.

## The price of DPF cleaning in Truas

The cleaning begins from £299. A call-out charge is added to every visit, and takes in the call-out itself, the booking, the scan and the advice that comes with it.

Once we have what you own, and broadly what the filter will take, the number gets fixed over phone. A single price for all would not be straight.

The motor moves it, and so does the location — Truas, Trenale, or anywhere farther out in the PL postcode area.

You are not billed for cleaning that the diagnostic says will not do it.

What nonetheless stands is the call-out charge, since the visit took place, the scan was carried out and the advice was passed on.

If the light reappears inside that window, an engineer heads back out to Truas — the job includes a 30-day warranty taking in aftercare.

## Vehicles we clean, and where we get to round Truas

The filter is cleaned where it sits on all of them: private cars, vans of any size and light commercials, HGVs, plant and construction machinery, agricultural vehicles. Nothing is moved anywhere.

Truas is rarely a special trip: our engineers are working Trenale Lane most weeks, and the same run covers Trenale, Tregatta and the spots out past Trewarmett.

Phone anyway from farther out through Cornwall. Coverage runs UK-wide, and the date you are offered depends on the calendar rather than how far away you are.

## The area around Truas

Truas is a small coastal locality in Cornwall, situated approximately 126 metres above sea level. Truas lies within a short distance of several nearby settlements, including Downrow, Trenale, and Treven. Truas is characterised by its predominantly detached housing stock and relatively small population of around 296 residents.

## Questions Truas drivers ask about DPF cleaning

Can I merely take it for a long drive?

It might, provided you catch it early enough and limp mode has not begun.

A long run at motorway speed is what it needs — not five minutes to Spar and back.

The visit runs how long?

It is typically around 2 hours. A badly clogged filter can need a second clean, which lengthens that.

What does it cost around Truas?

The call-out charge pays for the visit, the check and the advice; the clean itself starts from £299.

Pricing is done by phone, since what you own and where you are both move the number.

Do I have to be present?

No. The car wants space to sit for a couple of hours; you do not need to stand with it.

Wanting to be there is no problem: the regeneration then runs out on the open road, monitored.

Can someone come to Truas soon?

Depending on the calendar, often same-day or next-day is typical.

Phone 0303 330 1830 what is available across the PL area.

Does the filter leave the motor?

It is cleaned where it is, on the call-out service.

Neither taking a filter off nor fitting one back on is work we do.

And if the light comes back?

An engineer comes back out to Truas — the 30-day warranty takes in aftercare.
