# Mobile DPF Cleaning around Martin, Hampshire

With on-site DPF cleaning, we travel to the vehicle.

No workshop, no filter leaving. A technician drives out to your address in Martin, clears the diesel particulate filter as it sits, carries out a DPF regeneration, and you keep the filter you started with.

You'll be given a price by phone before anyone departs, the clean opening from £299, and the visit running typically around 2 hours.

Most people find us with the light on already, and the vehicle low on power. That is exactly what this page is meant for.

## The DPF light is on. What next?

The unit is not always what is wrong, and that comes first.

A number of faults put the same light on the identical panel, which is why a visit begins with a scan rather than with cleaning.

The use you get in the meantime counts. That is the second thing.

- Car still driving as normal on an amber light — have a go at a long constant run first. It costs nothing and often sorts the filter without help.

- Motor already gone into limp mode — that window has gone. A drive will not touch it now.

- Stop booking long drives and get it looked at if the car stinks of diesel or there is black smoke when you press on.

## Signs the motor has been showing you

By the time the light arrives, things have normally been going wrong for weeks. It is late news:

- less power, especially going uphill

- an engine whose revs will not rise as before

- the fuel use is poorer

- quietly, the stop/start packs in

- the cabin stinking of diesel, or smoke when you pull away

By itself, none of that is proof.

Alongside the light, it is a fair bet the filter is loaded.

## Why diesel particulate filters clog near Martin

Martin is a rural village, and the driving that goes with one is the worst kind for a DPF.

Run through a normal week: Western Downland Church of England Aided Primary School and home again, Townsend Lane at a standstill before the hour, a short hop to The Co-operative Food, a run to Salisbury. Nothing there runs long enough or runs hot enough to complete a regeneration.

What should burn off remains.

Geography does not oblige either. The M27 is under 15 miles from Martin and Salisbury is under 10 miles away, so unless something takes you out that way regularly, weeks slip past without the long unbroken run that would clear the filter on its own.

## Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration stops working

It is self-defence: that is all limp mode means.

With power held down and the revs kept low, the regeneration the filter needs cannot happen at all. That tells, because setting off one is precisely what a long run does.

Getting it up the motorway is the common advice, and it stands up to a line.

Once the vehicle is in limp mode you are past that stage, and the filter requires cleaning rather than more driving.

## Where the car stands is where the DPF is done across Martin

Most owners do not see coming this bit: the filter remains. The job is done with the DPF still fixed to the vehicle — on your driveway, in a work car park, wherever the motor can wait for a couple of hours.

Nothing is started until other faults are cleared. That involves a scan first: live data off the ECU, soot load by percent and by weight, and a check of the sensor feeds, glow plugs and connected parts.

Then comes the clean itself: solution in through the motor's own access point, opening out inside the filter and lifting what a regeneration will not.

A second pass is sometimes called for on heavily clogged filters.

Next, a regeneration drives off everything the clean lifted.

Either it is done as a monitored drive out of Martin, with you along, or it is done where the vehicle waits and the running data is verified once done.

Then a second check, confirming the change, putting out the warning light and listing anything still logged. Both reports are emailed over, so the before and after figures are on record.

## What a DPF clean will not cure

One thing is what treatment cures — a filter clogged with soot and ash. It does no good for:

- pressure or temperature sensors reporting a restriction that is not there

- an EGR valve held open

- the AdBlue system going wrong

- injectors or glow plugs that block a regeneration completing at all

- the turbo putting oil into the filter

Which is why the scan comes first.

Transpiring to be one of them means hearing it before work gets going, not after settling up anything.

DPF renewal is what people type in, but no part is swapped: the filter you already own is cleaned where it sits and sent back into service. Nor is having it cut out a remedy, since the MOT then fails and driving becomes illegal. Two more things worth bearing in mind.

## DPF cleaning costs across Martin

A call-out charge applies whatever follows, and pays for the visit, the booking fee, the scan and the advice offered. Treatment itself begins from £299.

Naming a flat rate would not be truthful. We agree it by phone, once the vehicle and its probable needs are clear.

Two things move it: what you own, and where you are — Martin itself, across at Tidpit, or farther out in the SP postcode area.

If the scan rules cleaning out, there is nothing to pay for it.

Because the visit, the check and the advice have happened, the call-out charge still applies.

A 30-day warranty covers aftercare on the job, and that includes an engineer heading back out to Martin if the light returns inside the time.

## Vehicles we clean, and where we reach near Martin

The filter is treated where it sits on all of them: private cars, vans of any size and light commercials, HGVs, plant machinery, farm vehicles. Nothing is moved anywhere.

Week in week out there is already someone on Townsend Lane, so Martin seldom means a special trip, and Tidpit, Woodyates and the places past Pentridge come with it.

It is the schedule, not the distance, that decides whether it is this day or the next, and coverage runs UK-wide — so call anyway from further out around Hampshire.

## What Martin drivers want to know about DPF cleaning

Can I simply take it for a long drive?

Sometimes, if you spot it early and the vehicle has not dropped into limp mode.

Fifteen minutes to The Co-operative Food and back will not do it; motorway speed, kept for a while, will.

The visit takes how long?

It is typically around 2 hours. A severely blocked filter can take a second clean, which lengthens that.

How much does it come to in Martin?

It begins from £299, plus the call-out charge paying for the visit, the diagnostic and the advice.

Both the vehicle and where you are move it, which is why quoting is done by phone.

Have I have to be present?

No. The car requires somewhere to stand for a couple of hours; you do not need to stand with it.

If you would sooner come along, the regeneration can be done as a watched drive instead.

When can someone get to Martin?

That hangs on the calendar, but it is often same-day or next-day.

Phone 0303 330 1830 what is free across the SP area.

The filter — does it leave the motor?

On the on-site service, no: the filter is done in place.

Nor does lifting a filter off nor putting one back on is work we do.

And if the light comes back?

Aftercare comes inside the 30-day warranty, and that includes an engineer returning to Martin.
