# Mobile DPF Cleaning in Lode, Cambridgeshire

Treating the DPF takes place at the car, not at a garage.

No workshop, no filter going anywhere. An engineer travels to your place across Lode, clears the diesel particulate filter as it sits, performs a DPF regeneration, and you keep the filter you started with.

You'll have a number by phone before anyone goes, the clean starting from £299, and the visit running typically around 2 hours.

If the light is already on and the vehicle is down on power, this page is yours. That is how most drivers get to us.

## The DPF light is on. What now?

First thing: it is not automatically the DPF.

A number of faults put the very same light on the same panel, which is why a visit opens with a check rather than with a clean.

The motoring you get in the meantime matters. That is the next thing.

- A long even run may yet manage it, provided the light is amber and the car runs as normal. Costs nothing at all, so attempt that before ringing.

- That window has shut once the motor has fallen into limp mode. Driving will not get there now.

- Stop booking long drives and get it seen to if the cabin reeks of diesel or there is black smoke when you accelerate.

## The motor has been showing you already

By the time the light appears, things have normally been slipping for a while. It is late news:

- climbing uphill, the power tails off

- the revs no longer pull the way they once did

- worse fuel economy

- stop/start silently giving up

- smoke under hard acceleration, or a diesel smell in the car

None of that is proof on its own.

It is a fair assumption the filter is loaded once the light is on as well.

## The reason diesel particulate filters choke round Lode

Lode is a village, and the day-to-day driving that comes with one is the least kind kind for a DPF.

The school run to Swaffham Bulbeck Church of England Primary School, High Street at a crawl at half past eight, a few minutes to East of England CO-OP, the run to Waterbeach — not one bit of it runs long enough or gets hot enough for the filter to finish a regeneration.

What should burn off remains.

Neither is a long way from Lode: under 10 miles to the M11, under 10 miles to Cambridge. Neither is on the way to anything most weeks, though, so the journey that would scour a filter never happens.

## Why limp mode stops a DPF regeneration

Limp mode is the vehicle defending itself.

The entire problem is that a sustained drive works by triggering a regeneration, and in limp mode the revs will not rise and power is capped.

Good advice, that motorway run — until the moment it is not.

The filter wants treatment rather than more driving once the vehicle has gone into limp mode.

## Where the motor stands is where the DPF is treated round Lode

Most owners do not see coming this part: the filter remains. The job takes place with the DPF still fixed to the motor — on your driveway, in a work car park, any place the motor can stand for a couple of hours.

A diagnostic comes first — live data off the ECU, soot load by percent and by actual weight, and a look over of the sensors, glow plugs and connected components, so other faults are eliminated before a thing is touched.

A cleaning fluid after that is fed in through the entry point on that car, spreading inside the filter to lift soot and ash a regeneration by itself will never move.

Heavily loaded filters sometimes need a second pass.

Next, a regeneration clears everything the clean freed.

Come with the car and it turns into a monitored drive out of Lode. Park it and the regeneration runs statically, with real-time data checked once it is done.

Both reports are sent by email, so the figures from either end are on record. The second scan is what verifies the change, puts out the light and lists whatever is still showing.

## When a DPF clean is not the fix

Only one fault is answered by a clean: the filter choked with ash and soot. It does nothing for:

- temperature or pressure sensors flagging a block that is not there

- the EGR valve held open

- the AdBlue system failing

- a regeneration that simply never starts, because of glow plugs or injectors

- turbo failure, with oil entering the filter

The first check is there for precisely that.

Where one of those turns out to be the fault, you find out about it in advance rather than once the money has changed hands for good.

Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter cut out cannot pass its MOT, and driving it is against the law, so that is no fix. What gets typed in as DPF renewal exchanges nothing: your own filter is cleaned in place and goes back into service.

## What DPF cleaning comes to in Lode

Each visit takes a call-out charge — coming out to you, setting up the booking, carrying out the check and passing on the advice. The clean itself starts from £299.

No single flat rate would be straight, so the number is agreed on the phone once we have the vehicle and what the filter is likely to need.

The vehicle moves it, and so does the address — Lode, Long Meadow, or anywhere further out in the CB postcode area.

Treatment that will not help is not a clean you pay for, and the diagnostic is what says so.

What nonetheless applies is the call-out charge, since the visit happened, the check was run and the advice was offered.

The clean carries a 30-day warranty including aftercare, including an engineer heading back out to Lode if the light returns inside that period.

## Where we reach around Lode, and what we clean

The one call-out service covers cars, vans and light commercials, HGVs, plant and construction machinery and agricultural vehicles, and on every one the filter is treated on the vehicle rather than moved anywhere.

Lode is seldom a special trip: our engineers are out on High Street nearly every week, and the same run covers Long Meadow, Swaffham Bulbeck and the villages out past Bottisham.

Coverage runs UK-wide, so farther out across Cambridgeshire is still worth a call, and what decides between today and tomorrow is the diary rather than the distance.

## Lode itself

Lode is a small village in Cambridgeshire, situated on the riverside at a low elevation of around 8 metres. Lode lies near the city of Cambridge, approximately 5.9 miles to the east, and is surrounded by nearby places such as Long Meadow, Bottisham, and Swaffham Bulbeck. Lode has a population of around 672 people and predominantly consists of detached housing.

## Questions Lode drivers ask about DPF cleaning

Will a long drive sort it?

If you get it in time, and the car is not in limp mode, sometimes.

That means motorway speed for a long run, rather than a brief trip to East of England CO-OP.

How long does the visit take?

Plan on typically around 2 hours — heavily blocked filters sometimes require a second pass, which adds to it.

In Lode, what does it come to?

The call-out charge takes in the visit, the diagnostic and the advice; the clean itself opens from £299.

The vehicle and your address both move the number, so we settle it on the phone.

Do I have to be present?

Somewhere for the motor to stand, for a couple of hours, is all that is needed. Not you.

Preferring to be there is fine: the regeneration then runs out on the road, monitored.

Can someone come to Lode soon?

You are offered often same-day or next-day, though it depends what is currently in the calendar.

Call 0303 330 1830 and we will say to you what is open across the CB area.

Will the filter be removed?

Treated where it stands, on this service, so no.

Neither taking a filter off nor putting one back on is work we do.

And if the light comes back?

Aftercare sits inside the 30-day warranty, and that includes an engineer coming back to Lode.
