# Mobile DPF Cleaning for Lake, Dorset

Cleaning the DPF takes place at the vehicle, not at a body shop.

Your vehicle isn't taken anywhere and the filter will not leave it. A technician arrives at your address across Lake, clears the diesel particulate filter on the motor and carries out a DPF regeneration.

You'll have a price by phone before anyone departs, the clean opening from £299, and the visit running typically around 2 hours.

The light is already on and the motor is low on power — that is how we generally meet people, and what this page is about.

## What to try when the DPF light shows

First thing: it is not necessarily the unit.

That light can come from several faults, not only one, so the visit opens with a diagnostic and not with a clean.

The use you get in the meantime counts. That is the other thing.

- Amber light, vehicle even now driving as normal — a long constant run can yet sort it on its own. Costs zero, and worth trying before you call anything.

- A drive will not shift it now — limp mode means that window has by then shut.

- Get it seen to rather than running it — diesel in the cabin, or smoke on hard acceleration, has gone past the long-run stage.

## Before the light, what the vehicle was warning you

Late news, the light. The symptoms generally build for weeks before it arrives:

- less power, particularly climbing uphill

- an engine whose revs will not rise like they did

- fuel use that is worse than before

- a stop/start that has silently given up

- smoke under acceleration, or a diesel smell inside

On its own, none of that is evidence.

It is a fair bet the filter is full once the light is there too.

## Why diesel particulate filters choke near Lake

For a DPF, the least kind motoring is the kind you meet across a rural hamlet such as Lake.

The school run to Thornford CofE Primary School, Wingfield Place at a halt at the morning rush, five minutes to Co-op Food, the hop to Thornford — nothing of it runs long enough or is hot enough for the filter to finish a regeneration.

Instead of burning away, the soot load banks up.

Neither is far from Lake: under 25 miles to the M5, under 25 miles to Wells. Neither is on the way to anything most weeks, though, so the journey that would empty a filter simply never happens.

## The point a DPF regeneration can no longer happen

It is self-protection: that is all limp mode is.

The whole difficulty is that a long drive works by starting a regeneration, and under limp mode the revs will not rise and power is limited.

The usual advice — get it up the motorway — is good, up until it is not.

The filter requires treatment rather than road work once the motor has dropped into limp mode.

## Mobile DPF cleaning where the vehicle stands round Lake

The filter does not budge. That is the part most drivers do not anticipate: the job is done with the DPF still bolted to the vehicle, on your drive, in a work car park, wherever the car can stand for a few hours.

First a diagnostic. Running ECU data, the soot load as a percent and as a figure, the sensors, the glow plugs, the associated components — all of it read before anything is touched.

Soot and ash that a regeneration alone will never budge are lifted after that, by a cleaning solution put through the access point on that car, which spreads inside the filter.

A second pass is sometimes called for on severely loaded filters.

A regeneration is next, driving off what the clean has lifted.

If you are there, that is carried out as a monitored drive out of Lake; if not, in place where the vehicle sits, with the running data checked afterwards.

Then a second diagnostic, verifying the change, clearing the warning light and logging anything still showing. Both sets of figures are emailed, so the before and after figures are kept.

## What a DPF clean will not fix

A filter choked with soot and ash is the one thing a clean answers. It will not help:

- pressure or temperature sensors showing a block that is not there

- the EGR valve held open

- an AdBlue system fault

- glow plugs or injectors stopping the regeneration starting whatsoever

- oil working through the filter from a worn turbo

That is what the first check is for.

Where one of those is the fault, you hear about it at the outset rather than once the money has left altogether.

Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter gutted fails its MOT, and driving it is illegal, so that is no solution. What gets searched for as DPF renewal swaps nothing: your existing filter is treated in place and goes back into service.

## The price of DPF cleaning around Lake

Treatment opens from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it takes in the call-out, the booking, the diagnostics and the advice.

The figure is fixed by the phone, once we know the vehicle and what the filter is going to need. No flat rate could be straight.

Two things move it: what you own, and where you are — Lake itself, out at Thornford, or otherwise out in the DT postcode area.

Cleaning that will not do it is not treatment you pay for, and the check is what says so.

Because the visit, the diagnostic and the advice have been done, the call-out charge still holds.

A 30-day warranty covers aftercare on the job, and that includes an engineer heading back out to Lake if the light comes back inside the period.

## What we clean, and how far we travel near Lake

The one mobile service spans cars, panel vans and light commercials, HGVs, plant machinery and agricultural machinery, and on every one the filter is treated where it sits rather than taken anywhere.

Lake is seldom a special trip: our engineers are working Wingfield Place nearly every week, and the same run takes in Thornford, Lillington and the villages out past Beer Hackett.

Farther out through Dorset is even so worth phoning about — coverage is UK-wide, and it is the calendar rather than the distance that settles between one day and the next.

## Lake itself

Lake is a small hamlet in Dorset, situated inland at an elevation of 57 metres, and is part of a network of rural settlements including Thornford, Lillington, and Knighton. Lake lies approximately 20 miles from the city of Wells and 112 miles from London, making it a relatively remote community. Lake has a population of around 270 people, who mostly reside in semi-detached houses.

## Questions Lake drivers ask about DPF cleaning

Is a long drive enough on its own?

It can, provided you get it early enough and limp mode has not arrived.

It takes a steady run at motorway speed, not fifteen minutes flat to Co-op Food and back.

About how long does it last?

That is typically around 2 hours, though a severely loaded filter can need cleaning twice, which adds time.

What does it come to around Lake?

Beginning from £299, with a charge for travelling that covers the check and advice on what to do next.

We quote on the phone, because the vehicle and your address both change the figure.

Do I have to be there?

Nobody expects you to stand with it — the vehicle only needs a spot to wait for a couple of hours.

The regeneration can be run as a monitored drive if you would sooner come along.

How soon can someone get to Lake?

Depending on the calendar, often same-day or next-day is typical.

Ring 0303 330 1830 and we will say to you what is free across the DT area.

Will the filter be taken off?

Not on the on-site service — it is done where it sits.

Neither job — a filter off, a filter back on — is not a job we do.

The light comes back — then what?

The 30-day warranty takes in aftercare, including an engineer coming back to Lake.
