# Mobile DPF Cleaning covering Field, Staffordshire

With on-site DPF cleaning, we come to the car.

The engineer arrives at your place across Field and starts. The diesel particulate filter is treated fitted to the car, a DPF regeneration follows, and you hold on to the filter you arrived with.

Nobody leaves until the price is settled on the phone. The visit runs typically around 2 hours and the clean opens from £299.

If the light is showing and the car is short of power, this page is yours. That is how most people get to us.

## DPF light on? What happens next

First thing: it is not always the filter.

A number of faults put the same light on the identical dash, which is why a visit opens with a scan rather than with cleaning.

How the vehicle is handled in the meantime makes a difference too.

- Worth a shot before you call anything: amber light, car driving normally, just one constant run, no outlay.

- Once the car is in limp mode, motoring will not shift it. The window has shut.

- Get it seen to rather than driving it — diesel in the car, or smoke on the throttle, has gone past the long-run stage.

## Before the light, what the car was warning you

The light is last news. By the time it shows, the symptoms have usually been growing for weeks:

- power dropping away, above all going uphill

- an engine whose revs will not climb as they should

- fuel use that is worse than it used to be

- silently, the stop/start packs in

- the interior stinking of diesel, or smoke when you accelerate

That is not conclusive on its own.

Alongside the light alongside them, the filter is a fair bet.

## Why diesel particulate filters block around Field

For a DPF, the worst driving is the kind you find in a rural hamlet such as Field.

Nothing of it runs long enough or is hot enough for the filter to finish a regeneration: the school run to All Saints' CofE First School, Field Lane barely moving at the morning rush, five minutes to Asda, the dash to Uttoxeter.

Instead of burning off, the soot builds up.

Except when you have a standing need to drive out to the M6, under 10 miles from Field, or out to Stoke-on-Trent under 15 miles away, whole weeks go by without a sustained drive. Geography is no help.

## Why limp mode prevents a DPF regeneration

Limp mode is the motor protecting itself.

A sustained drive works by triggering a regeneration, and that is exactly what limp mode blocks: power capped, revs kept low, no regeneration available.

So the standard advice to take it up the motorway is sensible advice, up until the day it is not.

Once the motor is in limp mode you are beyond that line, and the filter wants a clean rather than driving.

## Where the car stands is where the DPF is treated in Field

The filter does not leave it. That is the detail most people do not anticipate: the job takes place with the DPF still fixed to the motor, on your drive, in a work car park, wherever the vehicle can sit for a few hours.

Nothing is cleaned until other faults are eliminated. That means a scan first: running data off the ECU, soot load by percentage and by actual weight, and a look over of the sensor readings, glow plugs and related components.

A cleaning fluid after that goes in through the entry point on that vehicle, opening out inside the filter to lift soot and ash a regeneration by itself will never shift.

A second pass is sometimes required on heavily blocked filters.

What the clean has freed is then cleared by a regeneration.

Either it goes as a monitored drive out of Field, with you there, or it is done where the vehicle waits and the running data is read afterwards.

Both sets of figures are sent by email, so the figures from either end are on record. The second check is what proves the change, puts out the light and lists whatever is still open.

## The failures a DPF clean cannot answer

A clean answers one thing: a filter blocked with soot and ash. It does nothing for:

- temperature or pressure sensors reporting a restriction that is not there

- EGR valves that hang open

- the AdBlue system playing up

- glow plugs or injectors preventing the regeneration running at all

- turbo trouble, with oil getting into the filter

The first diagnostic is there for precisely that.

Turning out to be one of them means hearing it before the work gets going, not after paying a penny.

Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter gutted fails its MOT, and driving it is illegal, so that is no remedy. What gets searched for as DPF renewal replaces nothing: your filter is treated in place and goes back into service.

## DPF cleaning charges across Field

The clean starts from £299. A call-out charge applies to every visit, and pays for the call-out itself, the booking, the check and the advice that follows.

Publishing a flat rate would not be straight. We fix it over phone, once the vehicle and its likely needs are known.

Two separate things change it: what you own, and where you are — Field itself, across at Painleyhill, or otherwise out in the ST postcode area.

Where the scan says treatment will not help, you are not charged for a clean.

Because the visit, the scan and the advice have taken place, the call-out charge nonetheless stands.

The work carries a 30-day warranty covering aftercare, including an engineer coming back out to Field if the light returns inside that window.

## The vehicles we clean and the area we reach round Field

Whatever it is — estate, light van, light commercial, lorry, plant, construction machinery, agricultural vehicle — the one on-site service stands, and the filter never quits it.

The same round that keeps technicians on Field Lane most weeks takes in Field, Painleyhill, Withington and the spots beyond Church Leigh.

Coverage is UK-wide, so farther out around Staffordshire is nonetheless worth a phone call, and what decides between today and tomorrow is the diary rather than the distance.

## Field itself

Field is a small hamlet in Staffordshire, situated on the riverside at an elevation of 139 metres, with detached housing being the predominant type of accommodation. Field lies near the villages of Painleyhill and Godstone, and is approximately 12 miles from Stoke-on-Trent. Field is part of the wider West Midlands region, with London being around 124 miles to the south. Field has a small population of around 324 residents.

## Frequent questions on DPF cleaning in Field

Does a long run sort it?

Quickly enough, and with the vehicle out of limp mode, yes — sometimes.

Fifteen minutes to Asda and back will not be enough; motorway speed, kept for a while, will.

How long does the visit take?

Plan on typically around 2 hours — heavily clogged filters sometimes require a second pass, which lengthens it.

Price across Field — what is it?

A clean starts from £299, and the call-out charge on top takes in the visit, the scan and the advice.

Both the vehicle and where you are shift it, which is why pricing is done by phone.

Must I be present in person?

No. The motor requires a spot to stand for a couple of hours; nobody expects you to stand with it.

If you would prefer to come along, the regeneration can be run as a monitored drive instead.

How soon can someone come to Field?

That comes down to the calendar, but it is often same-day or next-day.

Call 0303 330 1830 and we will say to you what is open across the ST area.

The filter — does it leave the car?

Not on the call-out service — it is done where it stands.

Nor does lifting a filter off nor fitting one back on is work we do.

Suppose the light reappears?

Included by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer travelling back to Field.
