Regular DPF cleaning offers numerous advantages that keep your vehicle running smoothly and efficiently. By removing soot and particulate build-up, a clean DPF restores proper airflow to the engine, improving fuel efficiency and boosting overall performance. It helps prevent costly engine repairs by reducing back pressure that can damage key components like the turbocharger and catalytic converter. DPF cleaning also lowers harmful emissions, ensuring your vehicle meets environmental regulations and passes its MOT. With extended engine life, better fuel economy, and fewer costly repairs, DPF cleaning is a smart, cost-effective way to maintain your vehicle's health.
Ignoring DPF warning signs or driving with a clogged diesel particulate filter (DPF) can lead to serious consequences for your vehicle and your wallet. A blocked DPF reduces engine performance, leading to sluggish acceleration, poor fuel efficiency, and potentially triggering limp mode, which severely limits your vehicle's power. Prolonged neglect can also cause increased back pressure in the exhaust system, which may damage the turbocharger, catalytic converter, and other critical engine components, resulting in costly repairs. Additionally, excessive soot build-up can lead to higher emissions, causing your vehicle to fail its MOT and violate environmental standards. Addressing DPF issues promptly ensures the longevity of your engine, maintains fuel efficiency, and helps avoid expensive repairs or replacements.
When we arrive at your vehicle, the first thing we do is conduct a comprehensive diagnostic check. This allows us to verify that the DPF system can be cleaned effectively and that no issues are hindering the process. If any problems are detected, we’ll provide you with expert advice on how to resolve them before moving forward.
If everything is in order, we’ll proceed with the cleaning. We begin by applying a specially formulated soap-based solution to the filter, allowing it to soak for 45 minutes to 1 ½ hours. This ensures that all blockages are thoroughly loosened.
Next, we apply our heat treatment, flushing the system to remove any residue and leaving your DPF clear and fully operational.
Finally, we reset any warning lights on your dashboard, allowing you to drive away with peace of mind.
We don’t just stop at cleaning. Our aftercare service is something we take great pride in. Within 48 hours of your DPF clean (excluding weekends), our team will reach out to gather your feedback and ensure you're fully satisfied with the service provided.
Mobile DPF Cleaner can clean your vehicle in driveways, car parks and roadsides as long as the car is on a flat surface. Servicing a vehicle that is on a slope or steep incline is avoided due to the safety of our engineers.
Here are some of the questions people often ask about DPF cleaning in Your Area.
To be able to give you a quotation we will need to first determine location and type of vehicle as these factors vary and change the costs.
Yes, you do need it. DPFs are a legal requirement – they remove diesel particulates (soot) from the exhaust. None of us wants to be breathing the sooty air that used to come from older diesel engines. Modern engines with DPFs have actually brought about a very positive change in air quality levels, particularly in cities. Your car will also fail its MOT if the DPF is not present, or if it is not working properly.
We aim to be with you within 2-4 days if not sooner.
The cleaning process can take about 1.45-2.30 hours, if it is very blocked then worst case is 3 hours.
The benefits will be seen if you take care of the vehicle and take it out for long drives as recommended. The engineer that attends the clean will advise you on preventive measures.
The DPF is affected by how the vehicle is driven so we are not able to offer a warranty unfortunately. But we do offer a 14 day aftercare service in case anything DPF- related problems occur.
Our DPF engineers cover most areas in the UK. Give us a call with you postcode location to find out.
The clean is in two stages. Firstly we flush and clean the system with high strength products to clear blockages. Secondly the vehicle will undergo regeneration.
If it is a DPF problem then yes we can help you fix it. For anything else that may need fixing we can advise you.
Sometimes a garage will try to burn it off using forced regeneration but this doesn’t always work to clear the blockages if they are too severe. We specialise in DPF cleaning so can help clear the blockages thoroughly. We make sure that all blockages have been cleared so that regeneration can take place.
Yes after the clean of the DPF, the engineer will reset the relevant lights for this.
Yes the clean can still be done.
Long drives in the car mean that the DPF will continue to clean itself so this will be ideal. However if you mostly do short runs it may get clogged again.
Our engineers will always run a diagnostic test to begin with to ensure the clean can be done. If there are any reasons we can’t do the clean we would rearrange for another day after the other faults or problems have been fixed.
For 14 days after the clean we offer an aftercare service. If any lights come back on during this time we will revisit and do another clean of the vehicle for you.
Once we have started the actual cleaning process you don’t have to be there but we do you need you to attend at the beginning and end. This is so the diagnostic test can be done, paperwork, payment and obviously to gain access to your vehicle to start.
The booking fee is to cover the engineer’s time while running the diagnostic test and cover the travel time needed to arrive to your set location.
We will be able to clean your DPF if the vehicle is running ok. If however it isn’t and the DPF is physically damaged you will need to replace the DPF.
The light will turn on if there is a DPF blockage.
If your vehicle isn’t able to start or run as it should, there could be other faults that need attention before we can perform the DPF cleaning.
We are able to address the DPF faults and the blockages related to this. The dash lights will be then reset for this. Anything else is best to ask the engineer who performs the clean.
In most cases, your engine light will illuminate on your dashboard, but other tell-tale signs include loss of power, reduced fuel economy, poor throttle response, excessive exhaust fumes and a pungent smell from your engine. Poor acceleration, struggle to accelerate, vehicle feels sluggish, increased fuel consumption.
As well as protecting other engine components, a clean DPF will instantly improve the performance and fuel economy of your vehicle. You might say it pays for itself.
Apart from saving you thousands of pounds, a DPF clean is better for our planet – and achieves the same results for your vehicle.
Yes, we offer specialised commercial services tailored to meet the needs of our B2B partners. There are benefits of having a business account with us.
With the engine running at 2000 rpm, we apply the cleaning restorer in 3 short bursts, and wait for it to take effect. We then repeat the cleaning process a second time to remove any stubborn carbon remnants.
At that point the vehicle is ready for a road test to make sure the engine’s ability to carry out passive regeneration is restored – that’s what will keep the DPF clean in the future. We’ll also put a cleaning additive into your fuel tank to help with further cleaning as you drive.
Our engineer will explain how the DPF problem arose so you can avoid it happening again.
In the vast majority of cases it is simply that the car is used for many short runs, so it never gets to proper operating temperature. So at least once a week it’s good idea to let it properly stretch its legs.
There are also additives that can help, and our engineer will explain those. We do have to warn you, though, that if the car is only used for short runs it is only a matter of time before you see the same warning light appear.
Diesel engines are efficient, but they create sooty particulates in their exhaust that are bad for health. Your Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) removes the particulates by pushing exhaust gases through a maze of metal channels, collecting the sooty particulates.
Engine management systems are supposed to regenerate the filter unit when needed by applying high temperatures to the collected soot. For various reasons this regeneration routine can fail (one of the main reasons is when the car is only used for short journeys, never getting fully up to temperature). When the filter becomes clogged, exhaust flow is blocked. Eventually your engine management will apply a partial shut-down. The filter is a closed unit, and expensive to replace. It can be cleaned, however, with the right tools and techniques.
If your engine management light is on, the issue needs to be addressed, even if the light occasionally goes off. It indicates that the engine isn’t functioning properly. In some cases, your car may enter “limp-home” mode, limiting performance until the fault is resolved.
While you might be able to drive home, the car won’t be fully usable until the problem is fixed. Many garages suggest replacing the DPF, which can be expensive and often unnecessary. Fortunately, the DPF can be effectively cleaned without removal at a much lower cost.
Choose Cleaning Over Replacement. Rather than replacing your DPF, why not opt for a thorough clean and regeneration? Once the process is complete, our technician will reset your engine management system, turning off the warning light and restoring your vehicle's normal function.
